Rolex will not need any funds raised. He has cancer of some kind & we are unable to adopt him out. The Killbuyer is having him put down sometime this week. RIP Rolex

OH NO, I can't believe this! My friend was so excited about getting Rolex. Poor guy, he was so close to having a nice home. Does the adopter know about this?

I thought the KB does not buy grey horses because of risk of cancer? (a lady buying a grey horse for $10 at an auction told me this).

I honestly think he is being put down...He isn't going to make it another couple of days & darn sure wouldn't make it to mexico. I was told he was putting him down..I believe him.

The whites and greys do go to slaughter, but because of the high propensity for melanomas in the light-colored horses, they are processed in a separate stream NOT for human consumption, e.g. their meat can be sent to zoos to feed the large cats, etc.

RIP Rolex...I am so sorry that former owners decided to let you go on your own instead of helping you to the end....

My grey mare "Missy" had several melanoma's of various sizes removed from her tail when she was 15yrs old. Over the years she had several small ones all under her tail and around her anus. She was 35 yrs old when she died.(by euthanasia with a sedative first)...and very healthy and happy till the end.

So sorry to hear about your Missy, she had a long, wonderful life.
I'm sad that Rolex wasn't as fortunate, he might have lived another 10-15 years with the proper care from someone who saw him as more than a throwaway to make a quick buck from the KB.
