Sharp looking 6 year old, 16.1h, paint gelding. Look at his face!!!This guy was quite shy but once he realized we were nice he wasn't as aloof. He let us put the halter on him and he lead easily. He does not back well but tries to accommodate what is being asked of him. He picked up his feet when I asked, but he did not understand all of what was being asked of him. He was sound at time assessment. Once we turned him back out he followed us around. OH- IT MAKES ME SO MAD- when they chop their tails off like that!! Mark them for death or make a couple extra bucks off them- it's disgusting and repulsive to me.
Anyway... What a beautiful- and BIG- boy. Looks like somebody's dreamhorse.. I'll be rooting for you boy!

Why do they cut their tails off like that? To make $10 more dollars by selling the horse hair. I've also been told that the chopped-off tail indicates a "canner", a horse to be slaughtered.

Yeah, why not make a few more bucks selling the tail hair if you are going to send it to slaughter anyway? No one is going to care what he looks like. The person that sent this boy to the lot knew where he was headed, the sick creep. This is such a nice, big, well marked horse, all he needs is a calm fair hand and he will be a dream boat.

O.K. I pledge $100. towards this boy. I will pay when his bail is met and he has a home offer. I am disgusted by the chopped tail and am praying that we can get this big boy otta there. This guy has what it takes to be an awesome partner for someone.

He IS a good buy ladies, I bet he does have some draft in him and looks like the spotted drafts we are seeing everywhere. They usually go for much more than his adoption fee (one for sale for $3000.00 at the barn right now). So I say Go for it, he is a mighty good deal!

They would also cut his tail like that if he was a driving horse, wouldn't they? He's big enough for that.

If it had been cut for driving, they would have done a neat, tidy job of it. His tail hair was hacked off without any aesthetic concerns at all; there are several long strands here and there.

I think people cut off tails to make them look fatter in the auction ring. I have heard of that. Or maybe someone braided it & forgot or it got all tangled- quick fix. Poor boy. He is so stunning. Can't stop thinking about how I could....uhh...... nevermind.

They probably hacked off his tail to make some money off if it.....happened to a mare at our barn - while she was at another facility for training no less!!!!

2/27/07: UPDATE I am processing two applications for this beautiful guy....they've not been approved yet, but assuming the references are good and the pics and/or site check is good, he may be coming home to California. Kingston is the only other horse with an application in, so if you're interested in adopting a lot horse, please take another look at the others as well, including Zephyr!!!!!

I would like to move my pledge for 100. to Zephr because he cost the most. It will bring his bail down to an easier amount. I hope this will help him.
