Age: 18+ yrs Height: 14.1hh Gender: Mare Breed: Appaloosa X Color: White Hattie Mae was purchased by the killbuyer at a horse sale. She was so weak she swayed when he walked her down the ally to his trailer. Hattie Mae spent the next week in a box stall with food in front of her all day every day..she slowly regained her strength & is now out with the main group of horses on the lot and doing well..she was purchased before christmas. She would be best suited as a companion for another horse. We are not saying she can't be ridden, but it is unknown at this time what her training is. She is very sweet & nickers when she sees anyone. You're an Angel for sure. Bless you times 100, Anitahorse. She's the kind of horse I love -- a real fighter, and so brave. She looks much better than the description of her when she arrived at the KB's. I bet with more weight and grooming she'll be a real beauty. What a sweetie, which is even more important. She sure deserves so much more than a slaughter ending ... she deserves a soft landing and a place to call home until she's called to that other home. Em I will pay her bail if an approved adoptor will take her.

I think it's worth it to have a horse that so looks forward to your visit (and the food) that will nicker at the very sight of you. Just the thought brings back good memories. Unfortunately, that's all I have. Those of you who can actually experience it in the present, relish it well. She will be a blessing.

Shawna - when are Hattie Mae and Goldie Hawn scheduled to ship this week?
Bless you for paying Hattie Mae's bail, Anitahorse - that is so wonderful!
Cheryl, any chance you can let us know one way or the other about what your husband said about Hattie Mae?

So sorry i have not updated. we had a death in the family. my sister in-law was killed on the job. i'm also sorry to say that as much as i would love to bring this sweet mare home the cost of shipping her to CA is keeping the rest of the family off my bandwagon. i tried, i really did.my neice whose Mom was killed is who i was hoping to bring Hattie home to.she is 8, and tiny like a 5 year old. i will explore all options, tell everyone i know about her. sorry once again. sorry Hattie Mae.

When we pickup Tor we can bring her to Las Vegas, would that help you get her to California?
Where in California are you located?

Thanks, Cinda56!!
Cheryl, you and your family must be upside down with this horrible accident. I am so so sorry! Do you think your 8 year old niece would like Hattie Mae?
If the only issue is the transport costs, and the family would welcome Hattie Mae's sweet self with open arms otherwise, I will try to help with transport costs and there are probably others on this Board that would be willing, perhaps, to do likewise. There is a post on the Feedlot horses or the KB horses of a hauler that charges 65-75 cents a mile and who is excellent. Does Las Vegas make it closer for you?
Thanks for whatever you think you can do ...

I love her. She reminds me of Junior when he was on the lot. I'll help with $$ for bail and transport if someone can take her home. I can't afford any more horses or the shipping to Chicago right now. Plus I doubt she'd make it all the way here - she doesn't look as robust as Junior was and he was skinny and colicky after five days on the trailer.

I just love her too! Shawna says she will ship either Thurs. or Fri. to Mexico.

Who wouldn't love to have a horse who knickers whenever she sees you? Can't someone offer her a home? Anitahorse has offered to pay the bail!

I doubt she will survive the trip to Mexico. If no home is forthcoming, can we euthanize her?

I would contribute to a euthanasia fund, but hopefully, she can find a soft place to land.

If no one steps up - I fully support the euthanasia option. This poor trusting horse has already endured enough at the hands of humans (and yet, she still has faith!). It's the last, kindest thing we can do for her if the truck is the only option she has left.
Otherwise - I'm still good for the bail!

Cybercat - I'm in for $10. Tell me where to send it so that if no home shows up for this incredibly sweet horse, it can be used for her euthanasia and disposal fund.
