Those donations from ABR should be reflected....I know that VABarb donated $100 for Lenex/FRankie and we split it between the two in our accounting. The other $50 was from Karen and she would have paypaled first before telling us.

alp that home offer, did they send in an adoption app? If so, have they been approved? If not the money wont matter. Unless one of us that is already approved can step in, like right now!

Still mucking and feeding, ran in to wash my hands, I only have a sec -- sent in the 150.00 for Lenex, if not Lenex then Frankie.
Did I do it right? I went to the CBER site, to the make a donation button on the home page and sent through my paypal and used optional instruc.s.
But what are paypal fees ppl talk about here, should I have sent those too? If so, how much, and how do I do that now?

PP fees are the transaction cost that PP charges the sender, the $150 you sent will come up a little short when it gets to CBER.

Oh no, I definitely don't want the donation short, so is there a way I can send in the fee now? Or maybe I could add it on to what I pay Shawna to square us up for Cloud, and she can transfer it over?
And how do you know what the fee is?
Where do people get that transaction ID?
I've had a paypal account for awhile, I just never used it until Cloud.
Thanks so much Maverick for the help, it is much appreciated!
(Posted this post already, but it never showed up)

Paypal charges 3%. You'll see the paypal transaction # on the receipt emailed to you. Did you post your donation amount on the ABR board too?

The fee is a % of what you send.
I can't recall what the % is, I think it's 2% but I'm not sure.
The transaction # should show on the pp form.
I haven't used pp for some time, so I may be off on all this.
Sorry.

No, I didn't. I am not signed up for the ABR board. Just been reading it, sad that some people can be so nasty there to rescues, Mustang Hearts, CBER, etc. And, it's a little more hard core over there, and I'm needing to take all this horror in where I'm pacing myself. I'm trying to work up to actually being able to go to an auction here, with my husband who's ready when I'm ready (emotionally and financially, he's a lot tougher than I am, lol) and rescue two auction horses at a time and adopt them out. I already have my name -- Slaughter-Bound Equine Rescue and Sanctuary of AZ I see, though, that someone did post my donation over there -- thank you so much! And thanks everyone for all your sweet replies. I can't think of much that's more important than helping an animal. I just can't believe I was able to -- I pulled that one out of a hat for sure, lol! I know how helpless I feel because I can't contribute as much financially as my heart would if it could. Thanks for all you do, and you too, Aleta and Kirsten. You are amazing on ABR. Em Paypal charges 3%. You'll see the paypal transaction # on the receipt emailed to you. Did you post your donation amount on the ABR board too?

I wasn't sure whether or not your donation was reflected on that board. I was hoping not so that there would be $150 more. :-)
It is hard when people are mean because the focus should be on saving the horses.
Thanks for all you do for the horses!

mykingdomforahorse, it's core over here too. It's just that a good many of us on this BB have had some sort of contact with the nasty folk that, IMO stalk some of the rescue groups.
So you see this BB was started so we could have a place to come too with out, how should I put this.
So we would NOT have to deal with the "If you don't have something nice to say, then don't say anything at all" people.

Kirsten, what about the love that the horse give without question.
Mine are all total love bugs, I'm drowning in the loving that my horses give to me.
There are no words.
I can stop because I know that all these horses have so much more to give then just a ride on there back.

I know, it just amazes me that all that negative energy exists, when the effort could be put toward saving lives. And it's not that I can't hold my own amomgst those type of people. Rather, I'd rather not be expending my precious energy sifting through all that negativity. I follow the threads I can there, and there are a lot of wonderful people and rescues over there. I read those threads, even though I have such a hard time with the auction photos. It just breaks my heart. I guess I'd rather deal with the negativity I can't avoid, such as slaughter and the truck, and stay positive the rest of the time so I can actually help. I think negativity anywhere can be contagious, and dampen efforts that do so much good. But not to knock the ABR board because it really does so much good, just saying I don't have a lot of time, so I carefully choose where I put it. Have to say, Shirley over there with all those horses, wow. She too is amazing, and I so love that gray dapple and the sorrel a few photos above. I can't imagine the daunting task of placing or saving so many horses at once! Makes my head spin! And again, so heartbreaking. If only the heartbreak was money -- the horses would be rich! Em mykingdomforahorse, it's core over here too. It's just that a good many of us on this BB have had some sort of contact with the nasty folk that, IMO stalk some of the rescue groups. The total still needed for Lenex is $218 according to our figures on ABR. I think it is correct. Em here gave that incredible donation of $150.
I am worried if this amount which is not that big will still prevent him from being saved.
Can anyone else please chip in some more for him before the truck comes? We have come so far with these 14 horses, its not that much more to make him really SAFE.
Only $218 to go.....................

Biko (Lennox) is now in Maryland! He arrived late on Feb. 17. He was the first one that I saw when I went out to see the horses the next day. He was being groomed by Barb. He's a real sweetheart. He likes carrots and getting hugs. Biko has a nice new blanket to wear. When Barb and the farm manager got out the blankets, Biko ran, which also got Frankie riled up. Isabella (Paris), George, and Earl (Roper) all got their blankets put on the first day. Biko and the others the following day. I'm glad he had it on before the freezing rain hit the following day! Biko, George, and Earl wearing the new blankets after they've rolled in the dirt.

Biko is a smart guy. Since he's the smallest, he is low man on the totem pole. But he's learned to do what it takes to get his treats. He keeps an eye on me when the three dominant horses are by the fence and when I give him the signal, doing a come-here motion with my hand, he comes up to the fence and gets his treats before the others realize what's happening. He's actually called out to me when he sees me coming. :-)

Maybe this is a common horse thing, but since I haven't been around horses very much in the past, I'm learning new things. I thought that Biko did something really smart yesterday. The flies were terrible. He stood beside Izzy (Paris) but was facing the opposite way. So whenever she swished her tail, it chased the ones away from his face. I was really impressed!
