Well hopefully cybercat will move Nala's thread over if you can, but I will just give an brief intro and history on Nala. I found CBER through COTH. Someone posted onthe hunter/jumper forum about TB mares possible shipping to slaughter and so I of course looked. Then I saw her a 5 yr old TB bay mare. How on earth could someone throw away such a young horse just starting out in life. Her description was hindering her placement at that point as she was described a highstrung and hard to deal with, etc...(well she is, but I love her for it) Well, I was thinking what 5 yr old it not and what TB in that situation would not be completely terrified. So, I called my mm crying and telling her about her. And she said okay! So I got Nala a few hours before the truck came on June 24, 2005. She then shipped out to CO and arrived July 1st, 2005. Lot picture: Well, she arrived and I though man is she gorgeous. She was defintaly scared and had fear issues and was uncertain why this girl kept coming and bugging her... Her arrival pic: Well she stayed in QT and luckily did not get sick, so she got moved into the barn and got to go in TO pretty quickly: Well she settled in well gained some weight and I began working with her. I got her broke(I rode her for 4 straight months and gave her the winter off, which was a bad idea..need to get her going again): She got the winter off and pretty much all of last year off with the occational ride here and there as I was busy with my last year of school and she still had trust issues. But she was happy and healthy living a relaxing life: i10.photobucket.com/albums/a130/JLM179/uvs060126-001.jpg[/IMG]Spring turned intoo summer and my year with Nala was approaching: The year mark approched: July 2006! Then it came time to move her back to the barn she was orginally at, she moved around a bit, but is glad be home again: Back in work before the blizzards: Last week March 07: Well, I have almost had Nala for two years now. She has taught me so much and we have really bonded. She now hears my voice and comes right up to the gate to greet me and see if I have any goodies. She is such a sweetheart. Now that our bond is so strong, I can not wait to start riding her again. The first fre rides will be touch, but once we push through it she will be great again. SO hopefully the weather stays wonderful and no more snow and I can get this girl going consistently again! ;D I hope you enjoyed her pictures..here is an album with more picture I did not share, but highlights the great ones: pets.webshots.com/album/381834369OQvPjy

The girl is great. She was glad to see me home after my trip to FL. Met me at the gate and insisted on coming in. ;D Then proceded to drag me in. She got brushed and got her tail down and brushed. We then went for a short lunge. It was a good first day back. ;D Pics: 2 videos: trotting: s10.photobucket.com/albums/a130/JLM179/Nala/?action=view¤t=456.flvtrot/canter: s10.photobucket.com/albums/a130/JLM179/Nala/?action=view¤t=461.flvShe looks a little lame right when she comes down from the canter the first time. She is not, but she throws her shoulder out and does this on occatioin when she is resisting a little bit. Just wanted to point out that I did notice it. Also it gets bumpy cause I had to run with her to get her to canter. Lazy girl she was being.

She did kick Noah and give him a scrap, which he was being a huge wimp about me doctoring. Here are the pics...you can see how tall Nala is now as Noah is 17 hh. Nala walking Noah following: Trying to get some grass: What a pretty girl! Getting to know eachother again...lol Big girl! Beautiful Girl!! ;D

Well I got a wild hair and decided to get on Nala. She was good on the lunge line then I hopped on her and we walked around for about 5 mins. She was very good. A bit rusty but good. She needs to be adjusted as she was having a hard time turning left. I snapped a few shots of her..you can see how thrilled she is to be working. After being saddled: SO cute(after our ride): Smelling the mounting block while I am trying to take a picture..lol She is just so gorgeous! I loff her! ;D

Well Nala needed some attention as she was feeling left out. A mare that lives with her is in training with me now, so I get her out and work her, so Nala was feeling a bit hurt. SO I got her out and cleaned her up and pampered her a bit and had a photo session with her as well. Here are the pics..there are lots of them. She is such a pretty color this year..very red. eating instead of posing..lol Looking at Bay Eagle, who is being ridden in the ring: More grazing: She finally kinda posed: I got some help to get some good ones: The best ones: She is just soo pretty. Gosh, she is gorgeous!! I loff her so much!! ;D

I got some new pictures of the girl so I figured I would share them! She was just so shiny I could not resist. I left her fly sheet free for the night as it was rubbing her shoulders a bit and she has had it on for a good long time. I thought she might want some freedom. She is a little bit skinny in my mind, but not horrible..more lack of muscle. Here she is itching her leg.. Being the cute girl she is!

Thanks Foxie! Well Nala was diagnosised on Friday as grade 2 out of 5 neurological. I have noticed she has been walking a bit crooked lately and thought she needed to be adjusted, so I had the chrio out of see her and she said nope I think she is neurological, so she is a DVM and did some neuro test on her. The results is that she basicly does not know where her hindend always is. That is the most effected area. She thinks Nala probably had a case of EPM when she was younger and this was a recent flair up of it. SO, Nala will go on 5,000 IU Vitamin E a day along with yucca to help inflammation in her spinal cord. In addition to that she will have bell boots put on her hind feet to constantly sitmulate the nerves, so her braid knows where her feet are. When I ride her I am either going to put some light chains on her hind feet or a cat collar with a bell that jingles, so she can hear where are legs are. I am also going to give her some racing stripes with duck tape so whenever she walks it will pull her hair and she will feel her hind end. The basic idea is to rehab her hindend nerves into talking with ther brain. This is also why she is always a bit atriphied in her hindend. So, I need to get her bell boots and Vitamin E pronto. I already had the yucca and notice some change in her on it already! She is walking much straighter. I told the chrio of Agave's issues so she was kinda enough to not charge me anything for her evaulation as she had a couple other horses she was doing at the barn anyways. I though that was very sweet of her! Anyways this diagnosis explains alot of Nala's reactions to me and kinda is nice to know. She is pass the progressive stage, we believe, so now it just supporting her during her flair ups and trying to prevent them. I did not get any pictures of the girl. Although she went out in the back pasture and ran and grazed for a few hours occationally coming up to the jumping ring and sticking her head over the railing and watching my pony lesson kids jump around. It was cute. She is doing well and I hope she just gets better now that I know how to help her!

Nala, I don't know if it's also true in horses as it is in humans, but in humans who need to repair nerves or neurological damage, a mega dosing of the B vitamins (especially B12) for 14 days is very helpful. You might check with your vet to see if that would possibly also be helpful for Nala. Good luck, and jingles to her and Agave.

Well I rode Nala today and she was fabulous. We ran into a few greenie things, but we both kept our head about it and had a great ride! I hope to do it again tommorow!! ;D I did not get any pics of me on her as my friend was riding at the same time, but I got a few shots of Nala and my friend took some of Nala and I after we were done. She took them from her horse so that why we looks so small. O and she wears the fly mask cause she feels comfort in them...lol O and the back bellboots help her to know where her hind legs are and its working cause she is walking very straight! After were done, she is thinking mom what are you doing?? Her saddle pad: Mom stop: The two of us: Neither of us were ready..lol Ready this time:

Ohhhh, I love the photos! She is so beautiful! I didn't know they would actually lay down in the snow! What a picturesque place to be an equine. Scientists recently did a study that showed that horses do have an aesthetic sense ... your place looks like a little piece of heaven. That's a nice three-sided shelter. Em

Got a new digital camera for christmas so I got some pictures of Nala in her blanket in the stall.. Oh hi mom... Ooo whats that..want a close up?... Hmm maybe I do not like the flash al that much so I think I will leave... Now some pictures without the flash: Cute even though the outside light got in the way: My two "N" horses: Nala has been doing great. We have been playing in the indoor the past few days getting some energy out that she built up sitting in her stall when I was out of town for two weeks.
