HI, sorry you couldn't get her SLL, I have just found her an alternative home with some great people. I will miss this pretty girl, she is such a doll, I am glad I was able to get her healthy and ready to go to a good new home. I have had her one year and she was easy to get attached to! Thanks to everyone for wanting to help her find a home!

Shannie was tacked up and ridden today!!! Our trainer would like to take her out and show her, so standby. She is going to be a gorgeous English pleasure/equitation horse. Maybe dressage in the future?

Oh, she's so lovely! I remember her on the lot, considered adopting her but was intimidated by the "foal at side" aspect! I'm so very very happy that she has found her own special love person.

She is very pretty. When Kate breaks and trains the race horses, they are very well trained. She loves to take the babies on trail rides. In very good hands, most track horses know a lot more then people think they do and it doesn't take long for them to get going. Do you know her history?

An update on Shannie (now Shannon): Shannon participated in the HANDS ON HORSES event (FEB. 8-10) as we were asked to bring an "English horse" for Julie Goodnight's clinic on Friday and Saturday. Then Julie asked if she could use Shannon again for her clinic on Sunday. (Julie, herself, rode Shannon for over an hour and loved her.) On Sunday, some folks who have donated to our rescue came by our booth; so we mentioned that one of our rescue horses was in Julie Goodnight's clinic if they would like to go watch. Well, they were stunned and so were we! According to them as her original owners, Shannon had been raced beginning as a 3yr. old and quite successful until she bowed a tendon. She was then leased out as a brood mare. As the story moves along, the lessee died, and at that time a number of TB broodmares were loaded up and taken to the feedlot by relatives. The original owners never knew until it was too late, so you can imagine their shock this past Sunday when there was Shannon alive and well looking like a polished show horse! Of course, her original name is not Shannon/Shannie. That will be coming along with her JC registration as soon as we can read her tattoo! Apparently, she is bred "in the purple" and should never have ended up at a feedlot, but how many other horses like her have had this happen? (It is heartbreaking to imagine.) Anyway, our beloved Shannon is safe and happy now and will never again find herself in dire straits. A big "thank you" is extended to Halfwayhome (Heidi) for dedicating so much time and effort into rehabing Shannon and her now gorgeous palomino colt.

Did the original owners adopt her back, or are you keeping her? In any case, what a wonderful ending to a story that was ready to have a terrible ending. Thanks to all who were involved in her rescue and rehab!

We are keeping her! The original owners are very happy (and relieved) to learn about Shannon's new life here. They live not far from us and know they are welcome to come visit her anytime so they are pleased about that too. They are still stunned and amazed at the journey Shannon has traveled, and are so thankful to the person who originally bailed her, and to Heidi who really cared.....
