This fellow is drop-dead gorgeous. You can tell by the way his hooves are trimmed (pointy, no heel) that he's fresh off the track.
He just needs some time to just chill and be a horse, before any re-training demands are placed on him.
He's the perfect age to re-start as a sport-horse ... eventing would be a great discipline for a bold, energetic and athletic TB.

Same age as Hue. Kate will be home tomorrow and will be able to find out about Hue. I would like to know what his barn name was! She is really good at retraining these guys, so if anyone is interested in him, let me know. We can also run his tattoo and very quietly find out about him. I am hoping Kate can ride Hue down the track to highlight rehoming. Maybe this guy can join him.........

Diane,
We do need to find sponsors for Kanye. and raise some funds. Not only is his QT up, but we also did not get the full amount of funds needed for his bail, either. He had an outright adopter lined up, then she dropped off the face of the earth never to be heard from again.
I have had some inquiries on him, but none of them have actually filled out an adoption application.

He looks great under saddle, even if it is a Western saddle...! No, I don't have anything against Western anything, it's just I think Thoroughbreds look better in English tack!

I contributed to his bail in December. I'm absolutely strapped right now - with my own rescued TBs to help - and cannot help him further financially at this time, but please let me know if there's another way I can help. I'm glad to see the pictures of him!

Hey - have there been any enquiries at all about him? Also, is it possible to post the new photos of him on ABR/updates to try to find him a home? Not fundraising - but a request for a home?

Your idea is good, Caroline. I will post an update on him on ABR with his new pictures. Thank you for thinking of this.

Also did anyone run his tattoo with the Jockey Club? Do we know who he is, who bred/owned/raced him? His race record? All of that information can be used to help place him, or even seek financial support and/or placement assistance from those in his past...

Yes, I ran his tattoo and know who he is. I will provide his info to his final adopter, but not post nor disclose. My policy - not CBER's.
But, here is his story:
He is KY bred, from Northern Dancer lines - sold at Keenland auction as a yearling.
Raced 31 times, in the money 17 times. (in the money = came in 1st, 2nd or 3rd)
His last race season was last year and it was a tough one. Raced every 2-4 weeks across the midwest before finishing in 3 claiming races in PNW. His win record is good, but they were lower level races, so his earning record is less than $35K. Not enough to "support" the cost of keeping and racing him. (Note: I am NOT endorsing this view - just suggesting the reason why he left the track and found himself at risk. And, as a gelding, keeping him as a breeding stud to earn his keep....well, obviously not an option. Racing is a business, and sadly, the horses are the ones who end up paying the price.)
I don't know if he went through auction or went straight to FLO, but he was listed on CBER's site less than a week after his final race. So, yes, that assumption in his original writeup was correct. And, explains why his weight is so low.
He's got heart, I'll say that for him! Several of his races are on Cal Racing and I watched him run. By the end of the season, he looked tired. Gait still looked sound though. (although only way to be sure is to have a prepurchase) And, that much travel and not nutty - I'd say he's probably has a nice temperment. BUT, I have not met him personally.
He's now been off the track for only a couple months. He will need some "detox" time to figure out how to be a horse, and then retraining. Ideal situation would be for him to be in a (small) herd, on pasture for about 4-6 months, before starting retraining.
His weight is due to being at the track. They're kept thin. He's probably already gaining weight, but cutiepiepmu can help with nutritional guidance.
Anyone down in No Cal is interested in him, please contact jenm (his PS) and she &/or I will help with logistics to get him here. (Between us, we've done this several times!)
Someone want to help this boy? - he's earned a nice retirement.
mta: Those in his past - unlikely to help. He's one of hundreds.

They sway back ones are usually very fast. Some of these horses come around really fast. Knowing how to feed them is very important. I would suggest that Sam is doing him just right. Some orchard and some alfalfa. He doesn't need much else. With the right trainer, he may be able to be retrained in a very short time after a few months off the track. Key is finding the right person to retrain them. I am working on that............

Kanye was in with Swirl & Julie end of Jan, he was standoffish, kinda the alpha horse of the 3 but not mean, he didn't act skittish, or freaky he just avoided me.

Yeah, horses coming from the track tend to lack social skills - with people and with other horses.

Callie, thank you so much for taking the time to investigate Kanye's background...I think it will make a huge difference in his "rehabbing" and further training...and when he is adopted, the new owner will have a better understanding of what makes Kanye tick.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could do the same for all the horses...
