Hi Guys, It looks like we have at least 10 people and we can go forward with the clinic. If you can go to Steve's website and make your deposit, we can put the clinic in stone! Go here: horseteacher.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=68If for some reason the clinic does not go on, you will get a refund. MTA: The only reason the clinic would be cancelled is if we do not get 10 people signed up.Don't forget to spread the word to your friends! Jamie

Hello! If you are planning on attending this clinic, we need to have your $100 deposit money in by February 15th! Steve has many locations vying for a clinic and if we can't show enough interest (10 people), he will have to give the weekend to another interested location. He has to make travel plans! Come on people! Let's not wait until the last minute to sign up! Would love to have you there! You can send your deposit by going here: horseteacher.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=68Remember! You WILL get your deposit back if we don't get 10 participants.

Oh Jamie, you have to be one of the cutest human beings alive. No offense taken! Just try to offend me ... go ahead - try! I dare you! You can't do it!
I am totally game for what Beth was suggesting by trying to schedule a clinic during the camp-out. We don't have to drink the entire time, and this is exactly what I was hoping for with last year's camp-out - some scheduled clinics or events. We will have the space, the horses, the people, the interest - if you can get Steve out here, any one of you, I cannot imagine any one who is staying in a dwelling not being willing to bunk with him. Heck, he can stay in my house, and I will camp with y'all!
Miss Jamie, are you heading this way still in February/March?

I'm not going to get to go to the clinic I could not get the time off from work. Darn cut backs. I'm still going to try and go to the Friday night demo. It would be cool if we could do a clinic but when I looked at his schedule he looks like he might be in Canada during July. Maybe we could find some one though.

Ok so I set up an account last night and RIGHT as I hit "next screen" the mouse rolled-I DO NOT-REPEAT DO NOT live in Uzbeckistan!!!! Got in there today and hopefully got that straightened out-and paid the deposit. Who else is going? Oh AND..... Just this morning Hubby asked what would I like for my birthday? WEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLL-funny he sould ask hmmm would like to bring Joe and Hilary-use Joe in morning and Hil in afternoon. we will see if that all works out as it is right now am planning on Joe for sat & sun morning classes. Now to borrow a decent trailer. Question tho......... I can count on 3 fingers the number of places Hilary has been-like EVER in her life- 1) TB training farm where she was born 2) Emerald Downs 3 Here (decidedly less exciting I am sure) Would it be innapropriate for me to bring her along just to have the experience of being someplace different if it doesn't work out actually doing class for her? Would that be wierd? Stall fee is $15 a night-right? If the answer is no-let me know-but I thought I would ask. Thanks Lisa

The event is being held at Vetter Farms, LLC located at: 28512 112th St E, Buckley, WA 98321. Look for the Rother Horsemanship signs. The farm is owned by Dr. Dick and Kathy Vetter of Performance Equine Dentistry. The Friday night demo will begin at 7pm in the indoor arena. Please bring a chair and clothing conducive to the weather. Hot drinks will be available for sale during the evening. Max and I had a great time at the clinic. I think he was the class clown. He was getting really bored with the obstacle exercise about halfway through Sunday morning. None of the obstacles scared him, not even the car wash so we went through them pretty fast. He started using the obstacles as play toys. He walked up to the construction cones and would step on them or knock them over and bite them. They brought in a three step mounting block to use as an obstacle. After doing the exercise with it, he tried tipping it over. There was a blue plastic water barrel that he tipped over then sort of dragged it around then walked over and straddled it.
Jamie had quite the workout with her newest Mustang. I'll let her chat about that.
It was a great weekend. Jamie and the couple who owned the stables, Dick & Cathy Vetter put in a lot of work to get ready. They did a great job. Thank you for your efforts.
I think I'm going to go to the next Rother clinic and take my other mule. These clinics are the best way to build a solid foundation with any of your riding partners. I highly recommend them to everyone. And as far as clinics go, I think you get more for your money with Steve Rother than some of the other clinics I've seen.

HC-your mule was awesome! (and very cute) Can't believe he hasn't been ridden since the last clinic a year ago. Toeps-was good to see you again-sorry I didn't say bye-thought you would be there the next day as well-are you coming up this was this week? Fiji-the next clinic at the Vetter's is mid October-Steve and Francesca were looking at a different calendar when they thought September. Sign up now-I am sure they will book up. Caly-you have enough horses-hopefully the riding agreed with your body-you did great! (although we have 5 horses and don't ride nearly enough!) Jamie-THANKS for your patience and hard work puting this all together. Everyone was super nice, tons of good information and I look forward to getting out and doing more with my horses.

It was great meeting all the people from this board that I have spoken to, but never met in person! Sorry if I was tied up or too frazzled to have a decent conversation, but it was fantastic that you came out!
The clinic was a grand success in many ways! Several people took home life saving skills that will keep them safe! Others can now communicate more successfully with their horse. Some just needed a refresher course in who's the leader. But all came away with new friends, new skills and a confident smile!
For me, it was my most life changing clinic. I really fine tuned my skill set and I learned to work through some very serious issues with my newest mustang. I really felt like I learned something new, even though I have been taking these clinics for years!
Luckily, we are in for a wonderful treat. Steve is coming back to Buckley on October 17-20 for another clinic!
If you pay your $100 deposit by April 1st, you will get a 10% discount on your clinic fees! That's a $35.00 discount!!
We have 5 people already pre-registered and a 15 person max capacity, so get your money in if you want a spot!

I'm a little late in posting, but not due to lack of enthusiasm for the clinic. It was wonderful. I came back to a dose of "real life' that swallowed me up - wish I was still at the clinic!! LOL!!
Jtjedi kept telling me "you'll come armed with so many skills for dealing with Kaleigh." I was skeptical - I mean, two days???
Yup. Two days.
I was blown away by how many tools I walked away with. Steve Rother's website is "horseteacher" and a teacher is what he is. He uses tried and true teaching tools (breaking things down to sequential steps; repetition for remembering; drills; and so on) to get his methods across.
At the end of the first morning he asked each of us what was the main thing that was new to us/helpful/etc. I replied, "When I can control all 4 feet in all 4 directions using both kinds of pressure - I've got control of the horse." Sounds pretty "well, duh" doesn't it.
But, what I now had - that I didn't have before - were specific skills and techniques to get that control. And, you know what? They work. And I had a way to measure the effectiveness of each exercise so I could see - in a specific way - where our (Kaleigh and I) strengths and weaknesses were and where I needed to work in order to have a well-balanced horse.
It was worth every penny and every bit of aggravation (and there was plenty!) to get away to attend.
Also, I got to meet and work with Rosy, "our" save from last spring. What a sweetie she is - totally worth the save and NOT the "dangerous" horse she was supposed to be. Soft and responsive and eager to please. Only one display of temper the whole time - mild and directed at another horse. (but corrected, nonetheless).
I HIGHLY recommend attending a Rother clinic. So much so that I'm attempting to organize a clinic down here. (August 14-16 in Santa Cruz area if anyone is interested. We need confirmation of 10 and so far we have 7)
