Would you use a professional stall cleaning service, if it were available? How much would you be willing to pay for the service?

We have quite a few of them around here. I have used them, and they usually charge $3 to $5 a stall and they do them 5-6 days per week. The one near me will also come twice a day and do turn outs... not sure what that costs. Oh, and it is cheaper if you get them daily, more if you only get them less often since it is harder... but yes... I'd use them! now I have a guy who lives in the apartment over the barn in exchange for feeding and some cleaning... (supposed to clean daily, but somehow it doesn't get done all the time....)

I would probably expect to pay about per $10.00 cleaning for a stall or paddock, and about $15.00 if it included taking the manure away.
I would only use it when I'm traveling, b/c right now I'm only cleaning up for one and a half, and I happen to find it therapeutic!

Oh, Jen. You DO need to come and visit. I could cover your therapy needs for life here! If 1.5 is therapeutic, then 10 might be pure nirvana.
I don't have stalls, but like to keep the pastures clean and shelters. I would pay (or trade) around $150/month for help of this sort. Does that seem too low? (Just think of how expensive therapy is.)

We have a local riding club in my town, pretty small and NOT fancy at all, but people are available for hire to scoop the stall and paddock areas. They charge $1.00 per day, per horse for the stall and paddock. More if you want the turnout too. I imagine it would be a lot more in a larger town or nice facility.

I have used my neighbours kids, and paid them $10.00 a week to clean 3 stalls. I always had to clean after them, and ended up not finding it worth it. Plus I'm with Jen, to me it is very therapeutic mucking manure, the goatlies come and help too.

I don't know of a stall cleaning service around the Salem area, but at my friends barn you get 1.50 a day credit off your stall bill if you clean your own stall (45 a month) At a self care barn, they charge 2 a day for stall cleaning Finding horse good care, while your gone is almost impossible unless you trade with a friend.

I would pay a million dollars a month just to find good stall cleaning! There are no services around here, I have never even heard of such a thing, and this is like the second horsiest county in California. I do it myself because I cannot find anybody reliable who will do it well, therefore, I have NO life.

I just cleaned my first stall in 15 years yesterday!! I actually was fun. When I used to clean stalls for the stable I worked for I cleaned 15-30 stalls a day for 1-2 hours of riding time or a lesson.
I have my own petsitting business and around my area my basic is charge 15.00 a visit, I don't know about stall cleaners but that is the going rate for pet sitters in the Portland area.

I pay $10 per stall for stripping them to ground. I do that once a week. I do not keep the horses locked in the stalls they just use them as they desire. If the service was good and reliable I would use them.

Jtjedi, are you starting a business or looking into using one?

I think this all depends on driving time and how many you can do in one place. (i.e. if you're driving out to my farm to clean out my stall, it should cost at least $20.00, but if you're offering your services to barns, and you have a guaranteed contract, expect to pay less). They pay barn workers about minimum wage to clean out stalls. To outsource all of it to a good firm should cost about the same (or maybe a little bit more).

I occasionally use a local service provided by a vet tech friend of mine. For $5/horse per day she will clean stalls, water and feed in the evening. She does an excellent job. For a minimal additional fee she will also medicate. For instance for an additional couple of dollars she medicated Lily's eye and gave her banamine. I think it ends up being about $10-15/hour for her service.

Yes, actually!
I really need a good stall cleaner. I am spending too much time mucking and need to be at my office running my business.
I have a great Pet Sitter, who mucks, when I am gone, but not when I am home.
I am thinking of starting a service that ONLY cleans stalls, daily or twice a day for barns and private residences. Not a sitting service, just stall cleaning. A service that is reliable and comes everyday.
That's why I am asking if there is a market for it.
