I really don't want to open a can of worms here, but.... I'm wondering what the status on Whiskey Girl/Cercuse is... Is she safe and will she be available? I don't see here on CBER's website. Also, are there any other horses from Whiskey Girl's previous owners? Is any help needed? Just the facts would be appreciated, again, I don't want to open a can of worms. Thank you!!

It might be nice if Juliane and Safe acknowledged that the horse was purchased with Sam's own personal funds to get her off the feedlot and that behind the scenes CBER and Rescue's Only people were hustling to save her as soon as we found out she was there. No one had mentioned that whatsoever on the SAFE board, and it would be good to tell the whole story. I am happy they are helping now, but they were not responsible for getting her to safety.

It is not a secret that Sam bought Whiskey and gifted her to Juliane. I read that somewhere.

It warms my heart to see rescues and rescue people working together like this! Just think how much we can accomplish when we all keep the common goal of horse welfare first! ;D

You may have received an email or may have read it here, but on the SAFE BB and other sites, there is no mention of it and they skirted around the issue when someone asked about the payment for the horse, etc and did not answer that.

I just checked on the other boards: on "Switzerland" Shireluver did say that Sam paid for Whiskey. There was no mention on SAFE so I posted it there with a "hint" that maybe some of the kudos should go to Sam. I don't expect it will change anybody, but I think it's important to keep people honest.

Sam bought her within 10 minutes of finding out she was there, and out of her own pocket too.

I think Whiskeys situation got folks mobilized not only those on Rescues Only. It taught some of us that we can work together despite past disagreements, when it will benefit a horse we all care about.
I am hoping that it may atleast lessen some old tensions, and allow us be kinder to each other. Cause Tock is ALL about being kind and friendly! ;D She only barks at bullies

I would copy it over, but we all know how no one allows cross posting between boards.

The folks on the TSTB board aren't evil wicked souls.. However some of the folks there are folks who have questionable motives, and have abused resources meant to protect children and animals by using it in attempts to gain revenge or just to be vindictive. They could/would not stop posting about an abusive situation even though it was requested by the DAs office. They feel that openly attacking and bashing and shaming someone is the way to save horses from abusive situations... They think you can call (or email) someone about the condition of their horses/dogs/cats and then expect them to allow you to rescue them from their care. They believe it, but experience shows that it doesn't, in fact it can hurt animals because it makes people who see/hear about this behavior less likely to seek help for fear of receiving the same treatment themselves. The most experience rescue leaders can tell you the best approach, is to approach the owners in a calm friendly manner, determine if it is a situation caused by ignorance, hard circumstance, or is clearly just apathy or cruelty. Don't think you can make one call and see the animals moved by authorities with any haste! Which is why it is best to remain friendly even though you may be p*ssed as h*ll inside. Perhaps we should have a thread area for advice on how to approach the owners of horses we think are at risk.. with so many rescue heads here I am sure they could give us the wisdom gained from their own experiences. Also we may want to consider not posting names and contact info of people on the open board, perhaps have a passworded section that only the rescues can access to gain contact info so people are not subject to a landslide of negative contacts. Hey it happens even here... the Yakima effort took a nasty turn at first. I'm glad we were able to channel our energy in a more positive direction. :bows to Chatty and all involved: Also another recent situation where someone realized they needed to cut back and was attempting to place some horses, got pretty much ground into the dirt and backed out of placing the horses because of it. We are not talking about gross neglect either, just behind in maintainance after some tough times. So think before you type, reread your posts. I am still fully in favor of removing and banning people who can not keep this a friendly HELPFUL rescue site. I felt we all needed to state how we feel and why and in that way perhaps come up with a compromise that not only works, but that we can all live and play happily with, so keep posting YOUR ideas and thoughts here rescuesonly.proboards59.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1170709450
