I ran across this web page when I was doing some research on Pryor Mustangs: www.equineaffaire.com/california/features/youth_pavilion/celebrity_horse_showcase.htmlThe part the irritated me is at the bottom, where it is claimed that Azul Solamente is the only living offspring of Plenty Coups. My Paladin is from Plenty Coups herd, out of a mare named Blue Sioux. I know this from the BLM, who were doing research on the mustangs when Pal was born. They were able to tell me the week he was born they were following them so close. Since he was still with his mother when pulled from the herd the following spring during a round up, there is no doubt about his heritage. I contacted the webmaster, and told them that someone should inform the young lady that she is making false statements. That stud was in charge of that herd over 7 years, I am sure there are more of his offspring than my Pal still walking around....

I am constantly surprised at how much lying there is in the horse world. I mean, I'm in marketing, so I know a lot about lying, but hello, a stallion is going to breed like crazy. That's what they do. And what kind of stallion would end up with only one progeny? Not a very good one.

Seems the webmaster did forward my e-mail on to Ginger Katherines of the Cloud Foundation. I heard from her today. They confirmed that the foal in the film was my Paladin, he was called Al Capone on his paperwork by the BLM. They had lost track of him after the roundup. She was thrilled to know that he was alive and in good hands, but disappointed that he is now a gelding (the former owner's doing, not mine)!
