Hi, these two geldings are not in danger at this time, but their owner needs help placing them. She is a patient of mine, has recently been divorced, and is being forced to sell her property, so she won't have a home or funds to care for her two horses. My understanding is that she is not asking a fee for them, as long as they go to good homes. She gave me permission to post her phone number but I'm not comfortable with that, so if you are interested please contact me and I'll get you in touch with her. The info I have on them is this:
1) "Big Red": appendix QH , 11 yo, 16 hand gelding. Chestnut. Can't have alfalfa as he has colicked on it before. She describes him as gentle to ride, but a bit spooky on the ground (doesn't like having things flung at him, likes to see the saddle before it goes on him, etc.) Sounds like he'd respond well to basic de-spooking work. Trailers well, has done a little bit of trail riding. Has white socks.
2) "Cody": "full" QH, 14 yo, 15 hand. "Like a dog", very sweet. Registered but "papers not available" (I think she wasn't able to get them when she bought the horse?). She describes him as "bombproof but a good ride" ie has a lot of get up and go but very calm. Has a bone chip on front left which limits his ability to do much steep work, but is otherwise great on the trails.
She loves these horses, wants the best possible home for them. She'd love to see them re-homed together as they are great buddies. She will require visitation rights (not excessive, just wants to be able to check up on them from time to time and give them some love!) but the ideal home would consider letting her ride once in a great while. She gave me her vets name as well, and I'm sure would give authorization to someone wanting to check on their health history.
They are located in Windsor, CA and again aren't in danger but she'd like them placed before her home sells so that there isn't any urgency (home is on the market now).
Please PM me if you'd like contact info. Thanks.
