5 year old, 15.1h, Morgan Paint cross mare. We were told but do not know first hand that she is green broke, having been trained for 30 days. Again we do not know this for sure. She was nervous at the lot and being separated from her buddies. She is a very large, stout mare perfect for a larger person. She was sound at time of assessment. From what we experienced handling her she was not too responsive in the halter, she did not back or give to pressure. While the lot is a hard place to assess horses CBER would suggest re-training her. She was sweet once caught and was a little oral licking me and holding my fingers with her lips. A nice horse all and all. Please contact Deb Logstrom for more information. www.columbiabasinequinerescue.org/DEF-HorsesProfile.asp?HoID=749ADOPTION FEE$ 800.00

I have the room for her. I'm just not sure I have the finances for it right now... still trying to figure that out.
FYI, this is a BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG mare. The gals that have seen her in person tell me that she she is over 1300 lbs and possibly up to 1500. Someone besides me has GOT to be interested in a nice big mare like her.

Okay, I need to know if this girl is large enough to carry a 320 lb. rider plus western tack in the mountains? Also, with more time on her, do you think her temperment such that she could deal with a horse stupid rider without blowing up? Awww, I just looked at her picture again, she has a medicine hat....

At the scale of 25% of rider/tack weight to weight of horse.... And alot of people say that horses with drafy builds (and mules) can carry 30%.
If she is, she can carry: 1300 lbs - 325 lbs 1400 lbs - 350 lbs 1500 lbs - 375 lbs
My two western saddles: Leather = 40 lbs Cordura = 17 lbs

The cordura saddles are really nice and very light weight! So if she is at the 1300 low estimate... and he looses 20lbs....? Or you make him ride with a bareback pad! She looks almost drafty... she is beautiful... big blue eyes with the dark outline... she is gorgeous!!!

I might be estimating high on the husband, LOL, because I haven't been able to get him on a scale in a while. I do know the western saddle we have that fits his behind is 37 lbs. He just needs a horse big enough to carry him that won't go nuts when he can't figure out which rein to use.

Her right ear is white on the back so she is not quite a medicine hat...

Yeah, I have been looking for a draft cross, but don't want a full draft. We don't have the fences for it (post and cattle panel). And, when I asked my farrier, he just got this look on his face and told me I didn't want to know what he would charge to trim one. He didn't refuse, just made it sound like he would rather have his eyes poked out.

OH BOY I am in LUVVVVV>.... no, can't take another... unless MustangAppy wants to take a great draft cross gelding I have who WILL absolutely without doubt be able to hold a huge man, and go all day long... but not until he is trained... he's 3, and a Suffolk Punch 3/4 Morgan 1/4 just about 16 hands, and about 1800 -2000 lb now, and he has some more filling out to do.... oh, and he is no where NEAR fat... 60 or 90 days of training, and he will be a husband horse.... and I'll take another Taffy in a heartbeat.
oh, and they call this pattern a 'near medicine hat'

I didn't notice the white back of the ear until you all pointed it out...too busy checking the china blues. She really is a gorgeous girl. Even Brian is saying, well, maybe she is the one. However, he thinks we need to trade Sierra for her. I ain't willing to go there.
