I haven't received any new info about him...I was thinking about you last night, Michellep!
I know the Angel Fund is about tapped out, but if anyone is wanting to take out a short term loan from one of our members (Kelly), she has listed her terms under the thread above- An Offer That You Can't Refuse!

Well, as of now I have been out voted by both my husband and neice (who is over the top with excitement that her aunt has FINALLY adopted another horse) They think since he was given that name at the lot by somebody that it must be for a reason. We will see what name springs to mind when I go see him this weekend.

Well tomorrow is the day, I get to go meet Turtle in person. I cant wait Im like a kid at Christmas. I have to admit that Im scared to death and nervous. I probably wont sleep tonight at all. This is my first "new" horse in 25 years, so Im sure I will cry, as it has only been 3 months since we put Music down. Oh goody, Im making myself cry already, I ought to look like the blubbering idiot tomorrow. So, if you happen to be at Sams tomorrow and see somebody fitting that description its me. My husband will be the one shaking his head wondering if I have lost my mind. But those are tears of excitement for some new adventure. Hope that Turtle is ready for me and lots of good years to come.

I will bring my camara to photograph the 'blubblerin' idiot' - but you better not make me cry in front of my brother, as he will never, ever let me live that one down!!!! Kelly

Well I didnt cry....even surprised myself. I guess I was in awe/shock at how tall Turtle really is. I think he is really close to being 16 hands. My husbands horse is 16.1 and I dont see much of a difference. Thats okay though, I will just get a little step to help me get on him. He is going to be really pretty when he gains some more weight and sheds out this spring. He has that awful mud from the lot all under his belly and on his back legs. Its making him a bit cranky because its pulling on his hair. Gonna have to get that off soon. His feet are long, but Jeff is going to be trimming them for us. I think he has been mistreated in the past by somebody, you can tell he wants to be loved. Just not sure if we are nice. We get to pick him up in 3wks.

Hi all, got Turtle home this weekend and I think he is slowly starting to get acustomed to his new home and his new buddy. Boy, has somebody really done a number on this guy! He flinches to the touch on his sides like he is waiting for you to kick him in the gut, and he is really under weight. I spent quite a bit of time with him on Sunday and monday and he is coming around to me and I can walk all around him and touch him all over. He still anticipates being hit but is slowly getting better with me. He really likes his face rubbed and yesterday I brushed out his tail and all I can say is "Wow" what a tail for an Appy its thick and is two toned so it will be really pretty once it is washed. He got his flue/rhino shot on Sunday and was a great boy for that, and he also got new shoes and was really good for that also. IN the next couple of weeks we are going to get his teeth done. I have a feeling that might be somewhat of an adventure but we will see. We had to put up a dividing fence between the two horses as Sampson is a food hog and intimidates Turtle. So now that that is done I wont worry as much about him not getting to eat. He has a wonderful appetite and really likes his senior feed. He has a sweet personality and Im enjoying bonding with him. I think its going to take some time to gain his trust but he will be a great horse in the end.
