Juliet (Available) Age: 6-8 years Height: 14.3hh Sex: Mare Breed: Mustang Adoption Fee: $525 Contact Placement Specialist ~ Wendy: cberwendy@earthlink.net6 - 8 year old, 14.3h, bay BLM mare. This mare stood quietly while being tacked but was not great about being bridled. She did not buck but did not know much of anything. She did not give to rein or leg pressure and we were thinking that she most likely was used as a pack horse (speculation only).

Ah, yes, I guess I should have clarified! Yes, the NECK freeze brand will tell us how old and which HMA she is out of. Really nice built mare, she would be a great trail mount with a little work. Don't forget, Mustang = EASY keeper, and no shoes! Forgot to clarify that if this mare is out of the Pryor reserve, there is help available to her from the Cloud Foundation, or even from members of the Pryor Mt. Mustang Registry. So, if we can get a photo of that brand, it may keep her off that truck.

How fast can we get this done? Is there a special place I could place an ad for her if the Pryor connection doesn't pan out?

Until we get the brand identified, we can't do anything on that front. We need a photo of it, close enough to read the angles of it. Once we translate that into numbers, it's a call to the BLM. Should have been done yesterday, when there was a prayer of reaching someone. If she isn't Pryor, there isn't much that can be done. Once they are titled, that's it, the owner can do what they want with them.

I can't see this little mare ship. I try not to have favorites, but these mustangs have my heart. They are under seige every which way.
Here's $25 plus fees for her.
Here's the transaction number: Transaction ID: 3P728691TE268322Y
I also emailed this to Wendy.

I used to ask for a picture of the brand on each mustang they list, but only occasionally got one. Maybe theres some reason why they don't post one automatically, but other then not wanting to P.O. the FLO I cant think of one.
It illegal for the auction houses to sell a mustang in an auction without the title, or without doing a brand inspection so in theory the FLO should have title or a brand inspection that already tells the brand #. Keep in mind, as far as I know it is not illegal to buy one, just to sell them, or to slaughter them. So he hasn't done anything wrong at this point. There have been a couple of untitled mustangs pulled off the lot before most of the ones I have checked have been titled.
Its very easy to call BLM. You can call any office and they will tell you age capture date, and original HMA. If the horse does happen to be untitled it is not hard to get one. You pay $25 and keep the horse a year and then YOU get a title certificate which should go with the horse if it is sold.
New BLM adopters do sign an agreement that they will not sell a mustang to slaughter or ever use it as rodeo stock, even after the year is up.

No one is in charge of that, so who will elect them selves to do it?
I can't, I have a busy day tomorrow & work starts early for me.

I can't do any more than I've done. I teach high school so there is no chance of working on this until tomorrow afternoon.
Can we do any fundraising over on the ABR board?
Juliet probably needs a lot of training, but she's already been started and she seems gentle and willing.

Does she have a home offer? She is a very good looking girl, would hate to see her ship (any of them for that matter....)

With just 8 hours to go, isn't this irrelevant ?
If this horse is to be saved, someone needs to step up with a home offer....NOW....brand or not.

We are trying to raise funds on the ABR board right now for Cindy who appears I hope to have a Home offer...but anyone can donate to another horse there if they want. Juliet's bail is not even that much compared to others.
Could the Angel fund be used here?

I am available to call BLM if I can get a pic if her brand. Nanci if we know where she came from, how old she is, and if she is titled or not it improves her chances of being saved.
I love all my stangs but have an even softer spot for the ones from the ones that may be related to them, (from the same HMAs) We all know how much you love to save OTTB and mentioning their brand is often enough to jump start efforts by many other groups as well.
Its not just the Cloud Foundation either, there is Ford, and The Mustang Heritage Foundation who has funding to promote and preserve Nevada mustangs, spanish mustang groups..
So it could make a difference if we could see her brand. This mares BLM brand could be her ticket off the lot, but it needs to be read. Non mustang folks don't seem to get that no matter how often we ask.
They should take a picture of every BLM brand they see. I would happily read and contact BLM for any mustang on the lot. If they don't want to post a picture of it, they can email it to me.

Thanks Tockita, for making clear what I was trying to say. That brand can be a horse's lifeline.

Tock, I see what you're saying. My point is that at the 11th hour, it seems all our efforts should be in finding her a home and not spinning cycles on trying to read a brand. The mere fact that she IS branded is equivalent to a TB being tattoo'd - the fact that they have one elevates the status, without trying to actually read and interpret it. Trust me, I understand actually knowing what the brand means is meaningful, but spending cycles trying to do what seems only incrementally meaningful is losing sight of the fact that she will ship unless she finds a home. That said, I actually spent time on this photo yesterday, if someone has Photo Shop and can digitize to clarify the image, you might be able to read it:

I can not take anymore right now. We have a 12 y/o 4Her coming to look at leasing Cadence, but there are 5 more coming; 3 to me (Faye, Hayden's Mom and Symphony's sister) 2 to Angi who can not work right now because of her hand. She is only taking them because the owner is in end stage cancer and hubby is going to pay for their feed. Lifesavers in FULL If she is a NV mustang I can call MHF. Unfortunately their grant limits them to Nevada mustangs, so they can do nothing if she is not from NV.

Er, $500 is needed for bail, quarantine for 30 days is $300, so $800. Only one pledge so far of $25, thank you bridgetah. Dazz has tapped us way out, so I can't help with $$ this round.
