Merryana - is another big-bodied chestnut TB Mare. She is about 3 yrs. old and stands 15.2hh. She is halter trained but was a little nippy when we first handled her. She appears to be pretty good to handle and needs to be messed with. She would make an excellent sport horse prospect.

yes, bail has been met on this girl, but she still needs a permanent home...so that is why she is still listed.

Was something going on for her on the other board? I think someone wanted her, but not sure. I might be able to let her come here, but I'm still trying to get Holly and the others here. So it depends.

I posted her on Bay Area Equestrian Network (BAEN) in a Photo Ad stating that her bail had been generously donated, but she needs an Approved Home.

I would hope that would generate interest, and someone would contact her PS.

memory300 I put a call in to your Mom and I have not heard from her..We need to get her approval before you can take any horses..I left my phone number on your answering machine..Please call me before you promise a home to another horse..It could keep someone else from stepping up and offering a horse a home and that horse could end up on the slaughter truck..I know your heart is in the rite place so talk to your mom please..Thats why I brought Twister home I was afraid she would end up on the Truck..

there is a girl on bb that wouls like to have her , so I hope it worked out for her and will take her ... otherwise I was her back up and one other girl I believe.... but I have not heard anything new about where she is going ... but if nobody take her I will .... I will not let her ship or anything like that

I'm taking her. It's all settled. She needs a home and I can take her, too!!! She'll be quarantined and boarded for a while, until we can install some new corrals where I have my gelding...she will also receive some training while she is up there...

Yeah, she is officially A CALIFORNIA GIRL!!! Whoo, whoo!

Work? Who's got time to work? I have my hands full!!! Actually, I may have to work a couple of extra Saturdays to help pay for the board of my 2 new beautiful gals!!! But, hey, they are SO WORTH IT!!! I'm just so thrilled to get them both!!!

MERRYANA UPDATE!

Merryana is now a "Cali redhead"...she really is a lovely liver chestnut color. Merryana and Beauty arrived in chilly Southern California Saturday evening about 6:30 p.m. with Sharon and Dave. They munched hay the entire trip and both horses unloaded quietly. They are in a corral together and get along very well. They are adjusting to their new surroundings and the horses around them. They don't know what carrots are yet, but we'll take care of that!

Merryana is a little standoffish...not sure about people yet...but with time and TLC, she'll be fine. She is a GORGEOUS girl!!!

I'm so lucky to have both of them!!! I got some great photos yesterday and as soon as I get home and download them, I'll try to post them...I got one of Merryana resting her head on Beauty's back. Seems like they are comfortable with their surroundings! Merryana even took a sun nap yesterday!

Merryana is such a SWEET GIRL!!!! Angi guessed that she is about 5 years old...she OBVIOUSLY has had SOME TRAINING...she TRIES so hard to please us!!! She will be my husband's horse and she and he have absolutely bonded!!!! It actually brings tears to me seeing them together!!!!!!!! She really LOVES him and wants to please him!!!! She is a bit headshy, but we are all working with her on that...lots of rubbing on her neck and face, and her entire body!!! I worked her today and it was so easy!!! (HA!!! Not like "Miss Beauty")!!! I am so thankful that we have her. She is a pleasure to work with.

Merryana got saddled again, got a bit in her mouth, got long line lunged, learned "WHOA" today....phew! All that wore ME out! She is coming along very quickly under Angi's training!!!

These two really enjoy each other! She'll come up to him for nose rubs! Now she is actually even letting ME rub her nose! She has come a long way with Angi and us in the last two months!

Well, we spent our ENTIRE spring break up in Lancaster with "our girls" Beauty & Merryana (Gigondas)...here is a Gigondas (Merryana) update:

She has now been saddled and RIDDEN by Angi!!! Whoo, whoo! BIG STEP for her! Angi wasn't sure if she had EVER been ridden before! We were so excited!!!


Dad and his "Gigondas"...(Merryana)...he named her after HIS favorite red wine, since she is a lovely, dark red.


More pampering after he gave her a bath! She stood very quietly for her bath (UNLIKE Beauty, who I had to chase all over with the hose!!!)

Hello again! Gosh, we've been so busy with the little BLM fillies that I haven't posted anything on Gigondas!!! My bad! Here are some recent pics of her:

With the HEAVY saddle on...she was kinda WEIRD yesterday...see the following picture:


She finally exploded. ENOUGH of this stupid saddle!!!

Angi and I gave her a NICE shampoo bath...did her mane and tail with tea tree oil shampoo (smells nice and it is anti-bacterial AND anti-fungal)...I walked and walked her around after her bath...and, DUH...of course, she ROLLED IN THE DIRT!!! She was fine after she exploded with the saddle. Angi noticed she was kind of edgy, so she didn't get on her...probably was just having a bad day. She is learning to trust us more and more. Still doesn't like having her tail and butt touched, so we'll work on that in the next couple of weeks.

Wow, she has really grown and filled out since they came down from Washington! What an incredibly beautiful girl. I've said it before and I'll say it again: if she ever goes missing one dark night, DON'T COME LOOKING FOR HER IN SONOMA COUNTY (cause that's where she'll be!). I'm so happy for you that your girls are now close to home. Giga looks beautiful and very, very happy!

Gigondas and Dad went down to the arena again today. He hosed her off as it was very hot. Here are some pics of their day: OF COURSE she rolled, rolled, rolled in the dirt (TWICE)!!!! DIRTY GIRL!!!

Okay. I'm ready to go back to my corral now.

She's really great with my husband! They walked all over the ranch today...past all the other horses, down to the house, up to the corral to see her herd mates. Right now we have her separated in her own stall so that Art can work her. She is coming along very well with him! He's just letting her have some fun and be a horse for a while and enjoy the arena.

My aunt and uncle drove up from Rancho Bernardo (no...their home was one of the lucky ones that did NOT burn!)...Here are some pics:






Uncle REALLY had a good time with Gigondas today! He used to have his own horses in Wisconsin, as a kid. My cousin, Cindy, had a quarter horse while in high school and she and Rogue had many adventures together! It was good to see Gigondas and Earl together today!

Gigondas update!!! Kinda quiet lately. It has been raining a lot and/or too cold to do much with the horses. Dad takes her out for walks and romps in the arena. She is much more tolerant of both of us. He can pretty much rub his hands all over her head. She enjoys her outings, especially when she gets to greet the rest of the "herd".

My cousin is now training Gigondas. She can "stay", "come" and "back" with verbal commands and hand signals. She was saddled yesterday and did very well. This was a big breakthrough with her!

Gigondas continues to do well with her training. She is now at ease with humans and doesn't walk away or turn her BUTT to us! She actually wants to be with us! My cousin came out during the summer, about once a week, and trained her. She did a wonderful job getting Gigondas to trust humans again! She even got Gigondas to WALK!~ (faint, faint!) When I have time, I'll post some pics! Must rush off to work now! Too little time! Phew!

I took these pics of Gigondas' training last month and today (November 1, 2008). She has now been saddled without rearing or any "misbehavior". My cousin helped me train her over the summer. She now can respond to verbal and hand signals of "Stay", "Come", "Back", and "Walk". She has been saddled, but we haven't ridden her yet. The first two pics are Gigo with my cousin training her. The last two are Gigo and me. I've had a pinched nerve in my back and I am currently in physical therapy. I DO work with her on her commands and she is responding nicely. Here are some pics:





I dearly LOVE this mare! She is very cooperative now and WANTS to be with humans! Far cry from her beginnings when she always moved away from us! She now trusts me and responds well to her training. She WANTS to please! When my back is better, I will be able to ride her. Until then, I am continuing my physical therapy. She was a little sweaty because it was 80 degrees today! After our training session, I walked her around to cool her off. Showers are forecast for tomorrow morning.

Gigo has had the winter off and now I'm ready to tackle her again! I have had back problems since August and I still can't ride, but I'll start working her soon (as soon as it QUITS SNOWING!!!) Here she is in April 09 with dad. He's very patient with her and she now stands still for him to groom her! She's very trusting now and got her shots today like a pro! GOOD GIRL!
