Well at last I heard from Deb. They are soooo busy there.
My horse is not dead, after all. She is fine. In with Mediteranean (who still needs a home, I think) Her ankle seems fine and she is not lame. I will have the vet look at her soon. Beth will be up there with her trailer right when she needs transport. And Beth is dropping off a horse from there at Katie's who is only 10 miles from me....
You will not believe this. Today I got an email from a friend (the same friend that I went in with on Belgian Chocolate...) She sent Cherry's pic to a good friend of hers. Her friend, Judy, an older gal, cried when she saw her - as she is the spitting image of her mare Caraway that she had to put down last year at 28. She had had her all her life. Same size and shape and height and breed etc. soooo.....she is GIVING ME ALL HER STUFF!!! Halters, Bridle, blankets, fly mask and sheet and alot more I dont know about. OMG I had NUTHIN' now I got a complete layyette. I am struck humble and grateful and thinkin I may have caught a solar wave....or maybe Jimminy Cricket is about to hop up on the stack of books and start singing "Fairy TALES can come TRUE, they can happen to YOU....."

SOOO Donna is going over to get Cherry Blossom to bring her to her place right north of Vancouver WA. SHE HAS ROOM FOR TWO MORE! Beleaf me this is half the battle and expense; to get them over from Yakima. And she can hold them until transport arrives! So look over those pulled and already quarantined horsies you have been eyeing; also the ones on the At RIsk page - Edawna? etc. Here's the last excuse you need to jump on 'em.

Kate, I am excited to meet your new girl, and congratulations on the 'donation' of all the equipment. That is wonderful. Miss Cherry Blossom is one lucky girl to be going to you. I know you will do a great job with her.

Rhiannon arrived at her new home at Harvest Moon Ranch at 10 tonight. Beth did a wonderful job getting her down here on a long hot 2 day drive. And Donna did a great job of getting her from Debs and keeping her for a few days in her wonderful pasture. Rhiannon has taken inventory and is settling in in her own little paddock under a starry starry sky. What was that old Joannie Mitchell song...'I am as contant as the Northern star...and I said...constantly in the darkness. If you want me I'll be in the barn....'

She is a doll. The first week we just hand grazed and sat with each other in her paddock. Beautiful, just elegant as all get out. Very present in her body, full of personality. VERY curious about everything - sticks her nose anywhere she can get it. I detect a sense of humor. This week I start working with her, some friendly games, a complete bath and shampoo. Farrier visit. She really is The Prince from the Hempflinger book. Although she is a long way from being a bomb-proof plodder - I think she will be just great for a beginner like me. We like each other alot.

And they lived happily ever after! I'm so happy for you both. She definitely is a very regal presence. I hope she wasn't too offended by the shenanigans over in the front paddock; from what I understand we're going to have to put a triple X rating over Pippin and Homer's name plates! I hope to bump in to you out at Harvest Moon soon!

Awesome pics! I think those two are in luv! The second pic from 9/12 looks as though they are bowing respectfully to each other. On Rhiannon's internet page, the second pic of Kate's face tells it all. Wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing. Keep those pictures and updates coming! Again, congratulations, Kate!! Enjoy your new best friend.

Homer comes over when I walk Rhiannon near your paddock. He seems reall interested but we dont get close or touch noses cause we are still doing quarantine. But because I feed and clean R smells everybody on me and vice versa so I guess Im like an internet chat room smell-wise. Hope all is well and I will see you around the barn.

Katie He he...when do I come in. I feed on Mon and Tues. You can come by then and I would love to have to see her running around in the arena. Breakfast is over at 10 and I can take a break before poop detail if that works for you. I really cant wait for you to see her with your practiced eye and knowledge. Me, I hardly know which end to put things in.....
