Racer (Available) Age: 16-18 years Height: 16hh Sex: Mare Breed: Thoroughbred Adoption Fee: 595 Bail Met. Thank You: FOBs!Contact Placement Specialist~ Deb: avalonmistfarm@msn.com 16 - 18 yr old, 16h, black TB mare. Her tatoo was unreadable. She rode nice, did not do anything bad and responded to everything that was asked of her. She had smooth gaits and nice transitions but could use work on turning. She needs to gain weight to show off her real beauty. Nice English project. This mare just came off the truck from a sale and was being weighted so she might have ridden quieter because she was tired. Sound at time of assessment.

Pure black TB, quite rare, very elegant-looking, she would be a total stand-out in the show ring!

I've noticed that there are sometimes updates on the CBER horses. Any chance somebody has been back out there and has any new info on these horses? Re: Racer, it said she rode well, didn't do anything bad, but she might be tired. I know these people are busy, and I truly appreciate all of the time and effort they donate. P.S. Why does it say "No Interest" when I have emailed her administrator and also paypalled $50 yesterday?

P.S. Why does it say "No Interest" when I have emailed her administrator and also paypalled $50 yesterday? Welcome rwr - The answer to your question is that the threads on this BB are updated by volunteers and admins, who are dependent upon timely updates from each Placement Specialist. You'll notice that the 24-48 hours before a shipment, it's incredibly challenging to keep this BB - which is NOT an official CBER site - updated, because the PS' are typically swamped with work and it is not their responsibility to update this BB. Not an excuse ... just a reality check that the flow of information (most done electronicaly) between literally dozens of people and moving parts leading up to shipping day is imperfect, at best. Thanks for your donation and interest in Racer. Be sure to keep circling back to the PS to get additional info about the horse. You can also ask to be put into contact with Jeff, the guy pictured riding the horse for his insights. MTA: "No interest" typically means no one has contacted the PS with a home offer ...

She has an absolutely steady gentle eye. She knows what she is doing. I am stunned she is still waiting. It is horrific to think a horse like this could ship.........more exposure is needed, anyone who knows horses can read a heck of alot from the photos...

If I had not just paid for 2 draft pmu foals, I would bail out Racer. I have one OTTB mare, Watch My Fire. I found her after I had already committed to the draft foals. I had no idea at the time that there were so many horses that needed homes. I originally started by looking at adopting a BLM horse, then found the pmu foals. After I found my TB mare, I was so impressed that I started googling retired racehorses... now I have stumbled upon ABR and the endless parade of quality, trained horses that need homes. I will have my hands full with the new foals -- currently researching info on them and open to suggestions!!!

Isn't it shocking? I also found CBER by accident more than two years ago, and have become very involved in their efforts...(controversial as some people make them...)
Start a new thread on the General board asking about information for your new foals...there have been lots of folks here who have taken in PMU horses and will be glad to help you...

That's OK, we all had to learn how Proboards works...
Go up to the top of the computer screen where it is telling you that you have messages. Click on the word Messages and then your messages will pop up...ciick on each one to read it...l
See under each member's name on their posts? There is a little computer printer icon...if you click on that, you will get a screen that allows you to send a personal message to the member. the little envelope icon is for email...

runwayranch - Hi and welcome to the board! I'm one of the ones who sent you a message (pm = private message). I suggested to send a pm to cutiepiepmu (aka Sara in WA). She's a drop point for pmu foals AND she has drafts AND she knows pretty much every thing there is to know about equine nutrition. One stop "shopping." I also sent her a message to get in touch with you - but she'll probably do it via pm! LOL! You'll catch one to the technology ;D

I was the drop host for Foaltrain for several years and help alot with private individuals. Am also an equine nutritionist - can help ya if you need it with diet for these guys - they are not like regular babies! Take care, Sara in WA

This mare obviously has some solid training on her. All she needs is someone to take her in and give her a makeover! She is a beautiful horse and will be stunning when she is all sleek and shiny. Of course she probably has started her winter coat so we won't see the true sleek and shiny until the spring. Surely someone here wants to take on this lovely project?
