WE were told this gelding was 14 but his teeth look like he is older. He was nice to ride, responsive, happy to be ridden but an energetic fellow. he worked through the poles well and we free jumped him, he did not stop but did not show super talent but with a better set up up I bet he would do better. Easy to handle on the ground. Shod on all four feet. Deadline: Truck ships horses to slaughter on Saturday, March 22, early am, therefore Rio has until Friday, March 21 @ 6pm. Let's get Rio a home!!! He has 4 shoes on, so somebody cared in the last 8 weeks. I cannot handle the shoes, he was loved and deserves to be loved again!!!!

Yea, the shoes are what gets me the most with them all. I have a real hard time knowing the shod ship.

I saw this picture a long time ago, and it has always haunted me...shoes being pulled from a slaughter-bound horse...removing the last 50 cents worth of dignity before the horse enters the Kill Box. Please, let's not let this happen to Rio.  |

That's horrible, now that picture is going to haunt us too, grrr... We really do need to do whatever we can to stop horse slaugther from happening!!! Disgusting! I get soo mad thinking about it and really what can we do besides sign all of the petitions and save the ones that are at feedlots closest to us?
