Reply to: comm-654375725@craigslist.org Date: 2008-04-24, 6:35AM PDT Pip is a sweet little mare. She is only 2 1/2 years old. She came to us thin but since coming, she gets pushed off the food by the more aggressive horses so she needs to go to a home where she is with maybe one other horse. She is VERY thin. I have her in astalla nd am feeding her up but she just isnt gaining weight fast enough and I dont have the rosources to continue to feed her. Somone put some Defunk stuff on her and burned her skin wo she is in real bad shape. I have treated her agian this morning . Please come take this pretty baby home. She tacks up nicely and lunged good...dont know if she is broke or not. She will need a LOT of weigh before trying to ride her. IF you are interested in her. email me. I do not have a picure. She is sorrel in color with dark tail and mane. Her hooves were trimmed recently and she has been wormed. Give her a Hhome TODAY. THIS MORNING!! seattle.craigslist.org/tac/pet/654375725.html

OMG!!! I have to say that this was the WORST case of SH**%$ I have ever encountered. Pip is now here, thank GOD. This poor filly is the sweetest, in your back pocket girl ever. She is very thin, but not as bad as some I have taken. The worst part was the "burn" marks on her. I only have 1 pic so far, but I have more coming. A friend went with me to go check her out, and the minute I saw her, I said " load her up!!" The " burn " happened 2-3 weeks ago, so it is already healing, but you can see in the pic that whatever it was, burned as it ran down her body. A boarder at the place she was at thought she would put something on her bite marks, and no on knows what she put on her. But whatever it was burned the HELL out of her skin, to the point that her skin had BUBBLED up and such. It is all scabbed over now, and new hair is growing, but she also has mud fever on all legs. I have a blanket on her now since the people that had her thought it would be a good idea to body clip her, DUH!!! Sounds like that was such a brainiac idea, I mean come on, lets body clip a skinny horse and then wonder why it isn't gaining weight. Some people!!! As for what she might need, FOOD!!! I have some, but will run out fast and payday doesn't come for a little while yet, So if you could spare a bale, it would be heavenly appreciated. I have her on timothy, Allegra Cadence, and will be putting her on Cool Calories here soon. But not to worry, my sweet Pip, you are safe and looked after well now. Here is a pic of her " burn" marks, I will post more pics later, I have to wait until my friend emails them to me. i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh291/calgazr07/0424081325b1.jpg

OMG! That is HORRIBLE!!! I wonder if they used turpintine, it's an old wivestale for rainrot... of course it burns the skin totally.. I'd be SURE to bathe her very well... and get whatever is on there OFF of there... it might be very important. I personally like the EE bath (Equine Elite) as it is very soothing and healing, and also antibacterial/viral/fungal, while being VERY gentle...
I'd also get her on flax to help with the coat, but I bet Sara can help even way more than that...
Thank you again for taking her in!!!

probably used motor oil mixed with turpentine.. that is a variation... sometimes even gasoline is used with used motor oil.... people are not only sick, they are CHEAP... Can I please order you some EE spray or lotion to put on it? if you PM me your address I'll pay for it and ship it direct. You buy it off their website... which I 'll do this afternoon.

Thanks Kidz!!! I can use all the extras like that possible. I showed my neighbor when she got home, she just couldn't believe it and started crying. The thing is, after everything that has happened to her, she still has such spirit and love. Just amazes me.

Well I found out today that she was at a trainers barn for 3 months, so she has 90 days on her, and it shows. After the training was over, the trainer called the owner and said to come get her and that training was done, and the owner said "Just get rid of her, I don't want that stupid horse anymore" So the trainer took her to the gal that I got her from, so I am guessing that she is greenbroke. The gal I got her from said that she led kids around on her before she was burned. Kind of a scary thought with how thin she is.

Thank you so much for all you're doing for this horse. What a sad story, and those burns! Just horrible. That poor baby.
Do you have a paypal address for people to send donations toward her rehab?
All issues aside, she's beautiful.
Em

Poor horse. She's kind of scary thin, huh? And those burns. On my god. How can people do that to a horse? She has pretty face, and she looks like she will be darling with time.
Good for you for taking her. I would have done the same in your shoes. This girl really looks like she needs a soft place to land.

She is doing awesome!!! Eating me out of house and home but I am glad that she has a healthy appitite. She is really enjoying being out of a stall and being able to wonder around. I am going to be putting her in one of the grassy pastures here soon, but I want to make sure that her system can handle it since she was fed such crap before. She gets really excited to see people, comes running and whinning everytime!! I just love her, and so happy I got her. She needed us and we needed her!!

Bella is doing great. Doesn't like to eat unless I am out there, but she will sign and go about her munching. Her scabs are coming off now, I go out 2x a day and take a very soft brush and go over her a couple times. She loves it, probably feels good . She stands there, so patient, no halter or anything and just lets me pamper her. I am hoping the weather will be good to me today so I can give her a bath with the neat new stuff Kidz has sent for her. You can see in her eyes a big cloud has lifted and she knows that she is safe. Every morning I wake up and look out my front window to Miss Bella looking back at me, as if she is saying Thank you and Good Morning Mom!! I haven't seen any runny poo since Saturday, whew, that's a good thing!! I do want to take a chance and thank Rabbit for all she has done with crossposting for me and for her generous donation to Bella's care, I can't thank her enough!!!
