I started doing TNR in my neighborhood. Thursday night I trapped a cute little boy. Except it wasn't. When I got HER back Friday evening the notes said "milk in mammaries". OH SH*T!
I found the babies around 8 today. Mama is too spooked to take them. And, I was too worried about them to just wait. We just got back from the vet. The two we were worried about are doing better. The calico was a ball of fire - it was her cries that alerted me to their location. And, when she saw the flashlight she came out and TOWARD it!. But, now, she's pretty flat.
I DON"T DO BABIES! I suck at it. Give me a nasty feral any day of the week.
Say a prayer for all of us. They need to be bottle fed every 2 hours. And pray that I can get mama to take all of them back in the morning.

One of my kid's teacher's asked about a kitten yesterday, I'll get back to her and see if she is ready now... :-) her son who is grown up, wants one... WE are full of animals thank you, unless you would 'trade' for a diabetic male cat, you are not gonna be able to release him tho! LOL!!!

If you were closer I'd take weekend duty for you....just now sure how dad would react to bringing in the kitties to work. He still insists that Sakura needs to wear her puppy in training vest. Um dad, she FLUNKED, remember??? lol

LOL! At least you can bring her to work with you! I'm so lucky and blessed - I'm able to work at home most of the time now. This transition (from non-profit back into high tech consulting) has made for a rough month, but I am so much happier! The kits are snoozing right now....silence it golden! And two of them poo'd on their own this morning!! Yipee! ;D Now if they'd just start eating on their own...... Although they did let me sleep for a 5 and a half hour stretch last night. I feel almost human. mta: they are all putting on weight and the black one - who we've named "Tank" - is the biggest and he hit 300 grams today (about 2/3 of a pound). ;D

I'm so very afraid to go over to Caly's house. I already have 3 cats of my own and now I'm in love with her new lil ones. I don't want to be the "Crazy Cat Lady"!

Jen - and what would that make me? ? ;D Tock - yer on! Actually they had their first go-to-the-bathroom-by-myself today! Yippee!! They'll be eating on their own in a few days and I'll get some sleep again. This past month has been wild - restarting my consulting practise and all the accompanying work was enough - but horse stuff...and bottle baby kittens! Yikes! It's a good thing I'm too tired to be stressed out any more, so I'm guessing that's the blessing they are meant to be. A couple of them purred for the first time today. Pure bliss ;D And they are just starting to try to play with each other. They are SO clumsy! But they get their motor skills SO quickly! This time next week they'll be all over the place (and I mean that literally!)

LOL PEC. Well, there's a black one...is that dark enough? The little twerps are growing! They're four weeks old now, and they have the teeth to prove it. They are just starting to play with each other. They aren't very co-ordinated so it's particularly cute to watch them. They marvel that their sibs come equipped with a toy attached! (tail ;D) Here are a few pics of feeding time: Biggest boy - best at nursing - we're calling him Tank. Littlest boy - white with black spots - very quiet, thoughtful - very good with the bottle. Look at that stretch! Biggest girl - calico - full of cali-tude! She is always ticked off the bottle doesn't feed her faster, growling and pulling at the nipple while she nurses - note the milk leaking, the pic was taken seconds before the nipple exploded out of the bottle. The tiniest one, by a lot - girl - cross between a calico and a siamese - she has the most amazing coat - the roots are dark and the tips are light (called "shaded"). Here she is again - she looks like an Ewok, eh? And check out the length of those tiny (sharp!) claws!! Yes, I am shredded. And, yes, we're just introducing food to them. They crawl around all over it and make a complete mess...and then yell for the bottle.

Caly is doing an amazing job with these special lil kitties. She isn't sleeping much and her hands are all scratched up! Those paws might be tiny but they are quite effective. I think I will treat her to a manicure if she will let me. I know, manicures and horses don't go together, but she can feel luxurious for a few hours, right?!
