I called Boxer & Feinstein's offices today to urge them to block any plans the BLM may have for Cloud's herd and the proposed euthanizing all of "excess" captive mustangs. They took notes and asked good questions.
Staffers in both offices were receptive - Feinstein's office stressed how important it is for people to call, "It really does matter."
Since the BLM is underfunded, I told Boxer & Feinstein's staffers to look into the possibility of revisiting the 1932 Taylor Grazing Act which authorizes Congress to set grazing fees. The fees are very low and vary from state to state - the highest is a little over $2.00 per head (can't remember exactly), and the lowest is a whopping $1.35 per head (Nevada).
There is no reason whatsoever not to increase these fees.
So, fellow Californians, please call our senators. It does matter. And, it is a California issue - the Litchfield and Ridgecrest corrals are located in California, not too far from Susanville.
Here are the SF offices:
Sen. Boxer (415) 403-0100
Sen. Feinstein (415) 393-0707
