Crossposted from BAEN (Bay Area Equest) PMR (Pregnant Mare Rescue in Aptos CA) just rescued a mare who is nursing 4 foals. 1 foal is her own and the others latched on to her when their mother's were loaded onto the slaughter truck at the feedlot. If anyone has any Foalac they are willing to donate they would greatly appreciate it. This mare cannot support 4 foals for very long. All foals are about 4 weeks old. They will arrive Thursday. Check out their blog at www.pregnantmarerescue.com

I can vouch for this group. I've been onsite and they're doing a good job!

I went to their blog, and the foals are not there yet. They are coming on Thursday. the foals are all about 4 weeks old, so it will be hard to transplant them, but if she can get foal lac pellets, I'm guessing they will be fine... the mare can nurse them and mother them, they just won't get enough to eat from her alone... but by this age they are more than capable of eating foal lac pellets, hay, and some junior feed in the next few weeks... and she is VERY lucky this mare will mother them all!
