Yesterday I got one of those calls, horse is colicy, I'm not home can you... So off we went to check on Miss Breeze. Shes feeling much better and when dad arrived home we were talking and discovered he knew of Catcher, Dundees' sire. Previously I had heard sires name might be Catchers Eye Candy but there was no Paint by that name.. turns out "Catcher" is Sonnys Eye Catcher by Red Sonny Dee out of Stormys Eye Candy. Some nice folks at HC took a peek for me and found out that "Dundee" is Eyes A Dun Dee 2000 Dun paint by Sonnys Eye Catcher out of Strokers Funnyface Given that the nicknames fit with the reg names and the colors and ages I'm confident these are the right horses, and that now I know know who Dundee is. They even updated All breed for me ;D

Okay, so I know a little about paints, but what is Dundee? At first I thought a bay tricolor tobiano, but his legs are 3 dark and one light.

I was told he is a Dun Overo. From what I hear, their owner was here and had bred both boys. When she moved she left them because she wanted to sell them (Dundee and Catcher) but they didn't sell.
So they were here for close to 2 years, no board paid.. The owner was supposed to arrange a shipper to pick them up but did not, so the lady paid to ship Dundee home last aug, and the owner was supposed to send Catchers papers (to cover the board and the shipping) but she still has has not.
(Dundee shipped out Aug 25th, 2007 I know because Symphony was there the night of Aug 24th and so was Dundee waiting to be picked up! Dang Chester and his mad gate opening skilz!)
So Catcher is still here, and Dundee is there, and the lady has fed Catcher for 3 years, Dundee for 2 years, and paid to ship Dundee home and has nothing but a paint stud she doesn't own, can't sell or geld..
What is she supposed to do pay to ship him home too?? The owner is in Minnesota or Missouri or something like that.
I keep meeting people about town with Dundee and now a Catcher baby. They are NICE horses! Not tons of color mostly solid with some splash (which is good since I am not a huge paint fan... you all know I collect bays right?)
So far I have seen a Bay Paint filly out of a solid Bay Dun(skin?) Paint filly out of a solid Buckskin Grulla paint filly out of ?? (This one has the most white) Palomino paint colt out of solid Buckskin

Been there and this is what it gives me (knowing nothing about Symphonys parents.. I do know that Dundee has a red gene (sire is a sorrel paint, plus he produced a pal foal) Offspring Color Probability 20.51% - Zebra Dun Overo 20.51% - Zebra Dun 20.51% - Bay Overo 20.51% - Bay 3.13% - Red Dun Overo 3.13% - Red Dun 3.13% - Chestnut Overo 3.13% - Chestnut 1.37% - Grullo Overo 1.37% - Grullo 1.37% - Black Overo 1.37% - Black

Overo, yeah, I guess. His spots are erratic like an overo. He's more overo than tobiano, but I don't see the dun. I think you've got a bay there. But then, what I know about paints would half-fill a thimble. Wouldn't it be cool if you got a grullo overo?

Regardless of the coloring, that is going to be one solid build, beautiful critter! I vote baby will be Tobiano.

FattButts DD is Aug 3rd. She is home after another bout of gas colic (I NEVER wanted to breed her worried something might happen, and now my never sick, never sore baby has coliced TWICE!! She is eating but not quiet her usual self yet so I think she is going to stay home even though she is sad to be by herself in the yard. The baby is kicking and jumping and her belly is getting low. Being a FattButt however I do not see any hallowing near her tail and she is not bagged up yet. I've been told that many mustang do not look pregnant until the last month and that they sometimes do not bag up until they foal.. GREAT! I may be running 2 foal watches soon if Delite doesn't get busy. BTW Delite HATES her and wants to fight, however they are not allowed to kick it out until after both babies are here safely out of harms way. I doubt it will be a long battle the one time Delite connected on Symphony, she returned fire and Delite took 3 steps forward and was having a think on it when I separated them. The most that happens now is Delite whomps the fence and Symphony looks at her like she's nuts. Symphony gathers her herd and moves them about with mostly body language and a few nips. She is happy to let another herd exist with a different leader. She does not however allow unapproved horses near her herd, and she does not let other horses kick her without returning fire. She wont start a fight... but she'll end one.

He's a dun for sure.. the lighter coloring on his body is because of that but I agree he is not your traditional dun color. But he has had 3 dun babies out of the 5 foals I've seen. The latest one is the palomino they were waiting to see if he kept his stripe and he has, and now is sporting some leg baring too!
