oh heck, I'll jump too...
and agree with needing to get her to a clinic and get xrays and a scope.
this is way too long for a 'normal' colic, and with a poop a day, she is passing something thru, so you have a much larger differential diagnosis list... one that needs working up...
it might save her...

Yes, I am amazed that the veterinarian hasn't suggested this. Usually, after 24 hours if the symptoms are ongoing, we would ship them to OSU.

I have wondered about cancer and asked both vets said it could be a possibility but it could also be just damage from her being mistreated previously. She is not thrashing she is just laying down alot which she never layed in her stall the entire time I had her. She is not showing huge horrible signs its just that Amber and I know the horse and could tell something was going on. When she was out here we made a bucket of water with some bran in it made her poo 3 times but since then she has just stopped. I really hope its not cancer I still have hopes of her pulling thru

She has an impacted cecum.
The cecum is a blind pouch forming the beginning of the large intestine, analogous to the human appendix , the large comma-shaped sac, performs the bacterial fermentation and breakdown of feed.
The cecum is more forgiving than the small intestine, abdominal pain usually milder with cecal problems. Problems such as cecal impactions or excessive cecal gas (gas colic) can last for days and sometimes weeks.
She is with the vet being treated several times a day.
We are doing all we can for her.

My wonderful, retired event horse Rock spent 10 days in the clinic with an impaction colic. He recovered, and the vet said he'd never seen a horse go so long with an impaction so hang in there!  Here he is at a show about a year after that incident:  |

shes is doing a little better. she is very dehydrated. still not wanting to drink on her own. today i went down and saw her. gave her hugs and kisses. washed off her legs from the wounds she has from getting up and down in her stall. poor baby. she is pooping. hot very solid thou. she is still being tubed everyday untill she is drinking on her own. thank you all for the jingles. we will keep you posted.

So very sorry to hear this.
My condolences to all of you who were there with her to the end- showing her the love and care she had probably never known before. It is so heartbreaking to see these rescues lost just when they finally find people who actually care about them.
Big hugs to all of you who did what you could for her- I am sure she knew she was loved in the end.

I am soooo sad Poor girl... At least she will never suffer again.... Aimee The Vet saw Angel yesterday and had more concerns. Her white blood count went high and she passed away this morning. She is at peace and will never see an unkind hand again. |

I guess most of us know what it is like to lose one of our beloved horses. You all certainly gave her every chance and in the end she had too much to overcome. Bless you all for trying so hard with her. I hope it helps to know that others are crying with you and thinking of your beautiful horse named Angel.

You put so much love and time and effort in to her recovery and this must be a very hard loss to bear. I agree with everyone above who has thanked you for your love and care for Angel. I wish it had been rewarded with a success; I do know that it wasn't in vain. Angel knew your love and kindness and in the end that is truly what matters.
