Here's the thread of info. I think if you are interested, email Linda (HealthyHoof@Comcast.net) and she can forward you Sally's contact info. Joe's email suggests calling the owner, but I think Sally is coordinating. If you have questions, I can email Linda for you.
From Linda Cowles:
**IF** you have any interest in a free well, bred Polish Arab, OR know anyone else who might be, please pass this on! Sally Hugg is investigating this (read the email below), and I can forward her report to anyone who replies to me that they are interested.
From Joe Camp:
Kathleen just got a call from a Bob Davis who has 50 imported Polish Arabians for adoption. Apparently all pretty high end. Five stallions. One Level 1 dressage champion. One with a “blood shoulder” for those who know what that means. A coveted marking of some sort. They’re located in Sacramento CA. His wife imported the originals and bred them. She is now an invalid and cannot care for them. He apparently is willing to adopt them out for tax write-offs. He said one of the stallions was (at one time?) worth millions. His phone number is 916-991-4994. If you or anyone you know can help, please give him a call. - Joe
Original email from Sally Hugg:
I called Bob Davis an hour ago and talked to him about the horses. He has a real mess on his hands and desperately needs to find good homes for these horses before winter. He does NOT want to take them to the Roseville auction (local, low end killer auction), but needs to get these horses in good homes asap. His wife, who was the person responsible for the horses is very ill - they need to sell the horses, property and move to a retirement type situation. They are located in Rio Linda.
Most of these horses are not trained, although several are. One of the stallions has had some dressage and endurance training. There is also a gelding (approx. 12 years) that is trained. According to our phone conversation there are 9 stallions, 15 mares, and 5 colts ranging in age from 10 months - 2 years. The colts are all intact and not halter trained, although (hopefully) not wild. Someone is supposed to be working with them now. Not all of the colts are registerable as purebred due to some accidental breedings when the stallons got through the fences and bred mares. Yes - it is a mess.
I'm driving down tomorrow to take some pictures and get more information about bloodlines and papers. From what Bob told me over the phone, these sound like exceptionally well bred animals. His wife imported many of them directly from Poland.
Oh, a couple of mares are due to foal soon
So, if anyone is interesting in acquiring a well bred Polish Arabian, this could be a great opportunity. I'll update later tomorrow. - Sally
