When the vet came to do his IgG test (which was fine...) she noticed he had a patent uracus... where the tube that drains urine from the fetus through the umbilicus doesn't heal properly and he pees through his belly button. An obvious direct open route into baby, and he had a temp and low white cell count. Lucky for us we caught it so early... he's been on antibiotics since Saturday and seems to be doing great. Will get the bloodwork today. His temp was as high as 101.3, and yesterday was 99.6 or somewhere around that. This peeing through his belly button....what if he were born in the wild - would it kill him? |

no, they usually dry up on their own, but if they get infected... then yes... or if they don't close... then yes again.

Oooooo he must have a sore little butt. I am sure glad he is doing well. He sure is fun to watch on the cam, I peek in on him several times a day to see what he is up to. :-)

did ya'll see Mickeyfan's neice on cam today? LOL... she was such a doll!!! and I think Clark liked her, but not so much likes anyone in his space quite yet... but thru the FENCE... oh, now that is ok!  and he's getting so big!  you never know... the baling twine MIGHT have milk in it.... humph... and YES... we still LUV momma Sunday too! LOL!!! she is a doll and was hunting (aka mugging) for carrots! LOL  can you see little Clark sneeking in there to see 'the other baby' (there is just something about kids and foals!) |

Its our karma.... we left town for a few days and as soon as we left the camera went down. Sorry guys... won't be back up until we get back on Monday.

Does he still pee through his umbilical cord? My foal who had that when he was born had to have surgery to correct it.

No... the umbilicus healed up great with agressive treatment and antibiotics. We were SOOO lucky to catch it early enough. Cam is back up again too  |

Let the pair out in the larger lower paddock today for the first time, just for a bit, and boy did they have fun!!!
Hey, does anyone know, is it totally weird, but the baby seems to gait!?
anyway, he FLOATS on air when he trots, suspension to die for...

Yeah, I have a pic, he uses the legs on the same side of his body at the same time, he did it from the moment he hit the ground, and I'd think he would have grown out of it by now, if it was just baby weirdness... but he still does it! he seems to be at least doing regular walk, trot, this gait and canter... oh, and flat out run... hehe... yep Susan, he is NON STOP! LOL! then, poof he crashes.   ooooh, hills are FUN...    |

We put the weight tape on him this weekend and he is up to 165#!!!
I guess Momma is making good milk!
So, now, if we know of anyone who is looking for a very vivacious and built half Arab...
he is looking for a lifetime owner and show home!
He is (will be ) registered Half Arab, and has a father who has a LONG show record of championships in all types of showing from Western to Cutting and Reined Cow Horse!
this boy will be a chunk, and flashy to boot! and has genes to go FAR in the big show circuit I think!
Spread the word! :-)
and we shall keep growing him up to be a stunning boy! hehe...
(Sunday is doing all the work!)
