Now she's standing in the corner... odd Poor baby's feet are so sore. Oh.. she just pinned her ears at Sonny! Maybe we need to close that window..... THAT'S her problem! Yes, maybe she doesn't want the boys' prying eyes! Maybe not enough privacy! Good thing she hasn't a clue that there are hundreds of eyes 'watching' her round the clock!!!

What has the vet had to say about a mare this age having a foal?

Well, no vet in their right mind would suggest it.... but she was 8 months along when we got her from the Craigslist ad. The vet who examined her before transportt was amazed at her condition for her age. We just hope for a safe delivery for her and baby, raise baby then Sunday gets her just retirement!

Uh oh! Are you going with "Sunny" for Sunday#2? So, Sundance, Sunday, Sunny and Sonny? I guess you have Bob and Bob, so you're used to confusion!

AGAIN DONT LAUGH Hey not laughing, good question for many who do not know... Baby normally lies upside down, with its back toward mare's belly. When the mare gets ready to foal, the foal actually rotates and turns so that it is presented feet first, with nose tucked on top. This is the critical time, many times when you see a mare rolling in late stage it is to help turn the foal into position for the birthing canal. If you are present for a foaling, you always check for the shape and direction/position of the feet ( it here you make sure that they are front feet AND not upside down!) and to see if nose is positioned right behind in proper place, if none of this is correct, it is an abnormal presentation and assistance may be needed, if you are not experienced enough or have the right supplies, that is the time to call the vet, do not wait until too late, as it progresses fast at this point and it becomes critical for the foal.

we had a ton of fun yesterday feeling the foal kick momma's side... she was NOT happy with the whole affaire, but I had fun! I'm guessing it was a hock or elbow tho, as it must be VERY cramped in there right now. poor gal, she is just praying for it to roll... and get the heck outta there...

Thank you so much ;D Just reading you describe this, my heart really started pounding fast. This is a true blessing but I dont know if I could handle it. Big chicken in these kind of circumstances. This really helps me put this in perspective. I cant wait to see the new babies from Sunday #1 and Sunday #2 Thanks again ;D ;D

but it's funny, when I open her door she just stands and looks out! she doesn't really want to go out right now! LOL! I got her to go out a week ago, while I was with her, but when I went in to scoop poo, she went right in with me... silly mare.

This poor girl. She will feel so much better when the baby is out! At her age she probably just wants to be rested and graze all day.

wow, poor thing, she does look very uncomfortable. This morning she kept turning around looking at her belly, kinda like she was trying to tell the little guy to get the hell out of there.
