I don't know the answer, but I bet any amount of money that the horses that are in the hands of RO members don't have any where near the death rate of horses that end up with the current CBER BOD/president or Camelot owner.

I have Askhim (Sander, 4/2006) and Native Skywalker (Murphy, 9/2006)... Askhim is healthy and doing great...For a horse that had little chance of making it with the injury he had... Sky was diagnoses with cancer within a year of arriving....He is doing OK, has his days, but surprise everyone....

I just visited Izzy (Parrotmouth/Parrot) and Biko (Lennox) yesterday. Plus, Barb posted pictures of Hannah (Fanny) and Frankie in MT a week or so ago. Earl (Roper) is now a companian to a blind horse down the road from Izzy and Biko.

The question is, how many of our rescues have died at the hands of CBER?
Chatty, are you still on the CBER board?

Haven't been banded yet....Was kicking sh*t over there this week ...Yes, me kick sh*t.... They don't acknowledge I'm there, but put my 2 cents in.... Come down on them when they blame all their problems on RE and SOS board members.... New member are tired of NO change or their ideas being considered, as we did...It's time for a new CBER or lay down and die..... chatty

I ride Turtle although my husband did ride him once and did fine with that. Turtle is a total character, he will snort at just about anything especially if he is nervous. I have to remember to keep myself calm & confident in what Im doing and he is fine. If I am nervous or unsure of myself is when he can get a bit unsteady and want to buck a bit. This picture was taken at Buck Creek last July and since then he has been to the ocean and up in the mountains several times. He is scared to death of other people besides me & Ken. He has a great willingness to try new things and just has a great personality. Cant ya tell I love this little fella to death?

I have Sundance, Mistletoe, Bob Marley, Taffy, Rocket, Baron (Cleary), Phoenix, and Mustachio (Cookie Crumb), and we had Jet. We have rescued many, and lost only one CBER horse, even tho three we took in were Cushing's... We have taken in the ones who were old, challenging, etc. And our loss rate is low.... I'm afraid CBER can't say the same... oh, and we have yet to return one to slaughter... due to no adopter... or 'money owed' to the devil.

Awww, Turtle-pie!
Hey Michelle, what brand saddle is that? It looks like a new version of an old Simco I had.

Oh, and I have Manny (Magicman), Web, Zephyr & Raz.
Zephyr is a panic bucker and Sam offered to take him back. She was honest with me, though, and told me she would put him down if he went back to her. I decided that if it came to that, I would do it myself. I shudder to think she would have put him on the slaughter truck.

For the life of me I cannot remember the brand, but its a trail saddle the whole tree flexes which is great and the seat is really padded so its comfortable for long rides. I will go home and look it up tonight. Better yet, if the weather is still nice tonight might have to actually put it on Turtle and go for a ride!
Hey, my memory kicked in. Its a Big Horn trail saddle

Thank you! Wow looking at the before & after pictures its hard to believe thats the same horse. I have to say one good thing about CBER is they listed him and I took a chance on adopting him. After everything that has come out since, I thank my lucky stars he is safe with me and wont ever have to endure that kind of treatment again or ever face the possibility of slaughter. He is one of the kindest hearted horses I have ever been around.

We still have Briar (Now Soxey) Lola Now Cinnamon. both are healthy and happy, Soxey still not a good riding horse thanks to previous owners, but we love her anyway. Cinnamon Janet could ride all day Cinnamon likes to go into her trotting gait which is very smooth, she will do this gait all day long if you let her.

But the same person evaluating horses, picking up horses, collecting money. Or so I read on their board....

Aura, Diego and Justin (from early 2006) all are in Norcal..........Aura leads a trail-riding string........Justin is learning Dressage..........Diego was gelded- at more like 18 than the 14 we were told.....and is ridden by children at an English riding-school. I regret that several that I donated too, aren't accounted for.

CBER Sunline was euthanized in August 2008. She was losing the last of her sight and starting to panic and run into fences, so it was time for her, but she lived a very good life her last two years. Connor, mentioned upthread, is showing on the A circuit in pony hunters. Not bad for an 8 year old unbroke ex-stallion. Julia, who was posted and then yanked from the CBER board with the message that Chuck had promised the owner she would go to slaughter in 2006, is safe in Los Angeles in her forever home. Here is a Christmas picture. She is a wonderful trail horse and lives like an absolute queen with the best of everything.

I am so sorry to hear about Sunline, but I thank you for the wonderful care and more that you gave her when everyone else in her life sent her to slaughter. You stuck by her through thick and thin, partial sight and no sight and were there for her at the end when she needed you. Connor always knew he was "quite the guy", by that I mean he had a confidence and manner that made even the feedlot owner pay attention to him and like him and hold him back initially, his success is a tribute to all who saw his potential and found him a perfect niche. Julia was one who definitely would have broken my heart if I hadn't been able to convince C to let me find her a home far away, her former "owner" was a total asshat who sent a wonderful wonderful girl to the killers simply because she didn't want anyone else to have her when she wanted to get rid of her. I thank anyone and everyone associated with getting her the h*** out of there and into a place where she is loved and appreciated as she should be. There are so many stories and so many good people that helped horses for the right reasons, its so sad that all that was overridden by the greed of another.

Well, thank you, because without your intervention, she'd have been dead. It is perfect justice that she has the home she has now...my guess is her former asshat owner will never live anywhere nearly as luxurious. She has a handsome rescued Thoroughbred for a boyfriend, too! I just wish we could find the papers/history. Her mom is dying to know. This is a well bred mare...this is no backyard breeder's mistake. She definitely has papers out there.
