Barb, I can see the desperation in your words. Please do not do anything without thinking it through. I hope your friends can help you out. I know alot of people are desperate in these bad times. I hope something works out for you. How long will they need to be watched? Short term or long? Can you lease them to anyone? Do you want to sell them?

Barb,
Please give us a bit more details about your "kids" so we can figure out how to best help you out. We don't want you to lose your horses!

Where in California are you? I'm at the OR/CA border and might be able to help you foster. To ensure they will have good care, I'm happy to provide references. Do not give up- try contacting rescues in your area to see if they also have short-term foster people available.

Barb, please let us know more details. Are you having to permanently find new homes for them or just temporary ones? Please PM me if you can. Please don't do anything rash!

well will try to fill in some blanks..after three yrs of being at the ranch..ty just blew up at me for taking some of my stuff out of there,,brushes, hay bags, wraps, things that were just sitting there and not being used. mind you i have been paying board and food cost all this time, and he been using all my panels,feeders,etc...i did tell him before that since i was looking to buy a place to be able to have horses at home with me..i did not "tell" him at that moment that i was collecting things..kathy and i were there looking at the horses..back to story.he blew up called me an ungratefull bi**ch...and gave me a dateline of getting everything (horses, trailer, etc) off the property by may 1...has nothing to do with money..so i am scrambling to find a place for them to go for a while..wheather being shortime or what..i am really trying to find a home for myself.. i am so hurt and desperate that i did say that i would shoot them before i would let them stay there, never would i sell or give them to him now..so hense me calling out for help,, so in a nutshell i need to move them somewhere safe while i am still looking for a home for myself.

You don't need to put your horses down. You may have to board them at different places for the short-term, but that can work out.

Did you check out Craigslist? I found this place for $165.00/month but I don't know where it is in relation to you. However, it may be a short term fix while you figure this out. inlandempire.craigslist.org/grd/1111331140.htmlHorse Boarding Access to National Park Trails - $165 month - $165 (Anza) Reply to: sale-sd7vh-1111331140@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?] Date: 2009-04-07, 9:54AM PDT Located in Anza zip 92539 Private Family Large pasture area. Over an acre in size. Has 2 - 8 by 24 foot shelters for shade. We also have a huge arena, and round pen. Shared tack area. There is room here for a couple horse trailers to be parked. I can feed supplements/grain that you provide. I will blanket horses if needed. I'm home 95% of the time, so the horses would be under close watch. We live right by the Cleveland National Forest so there is access to trails. Very quiet out here. You would ride down a dirt road for about 10 minutes to hit the National Forest Trails. People trailer horses out here, park near my house, and ride the trails. I currently don't have individual pens, but I will consider getting some. Depends on if I have enough people interested in single horse pens. I have owned horses off and on for over 20 years. Shown miniature horses, had draft horses, barrel raced in highschool, and owned several other breeds over the years. I also have experience with pregnant mares, and foals. I would do my best to ensure your horse is happy and safe out here at my home. $165 month is for up to 2 flakes of hay per day. If you horse needs more, there will be an additional charge. Discount on board if you have multiple horses. Email me if you are interested. I will take some pictures in next couple days and post them. Phone 858-222-4199

Barb, are YOU looking for a place too? I'm confused... why would you be giving your horses to him? isn't this your trainer's place where they are? can the horses go to a pasture board place? is that what you need from us is suggestions on where to move the horses? do you have two mares due any time to deliver?

1st off yes i have looking for several months to but a house with some land for the horses..yes the horses are at the ranch (the trainer place in apply valley he thinks that since he gave the deadline that i wont be able to find a place to move and i would :have: to give him the horses..fat change of that ===he ty has stated that i can stay there if i agree to pay FULL board at 150..00 per horse and then want to charge me half for the baby whi dosen't eat thing yet she try poor thing,, if some one know any situation that would work for me i am all ears..
both mares sunshine and tequilla got hit with the stud when no one was paying attention (we called him one nut wonder) did not think that he could do thattttttttttt,,so both are unplanned events..tequilla has filly on 02/01/09 sunshine is still baking her some more vet check her out and she fine and baby is starting to roll into positsion,,and her bags are full her back end is like a bowl of jello jell rolls..her whowhoo is soft also..so i may now but you never know with mares..i would llove to fine a pastureboad but have not found any yet,, the reason i did not make a fuss over the baby when i was born is that i didn;t wanted poeple to come down on for haveing the babys..

Hey Barb, I hope your house hunting goes well and you find a new place quickly. You sound really at your wit's end with the place where you are at. It doesn't sound like the owner is treating you right, but I would be surprised if you can find a cheaper deal. $150 per horse is very reasonable if he is supplying the feed. If you have to supply feed, then that's too much, in my opinion. I don't think it's right for him to charge you for a baby if it was his mistake that the mare was bred. If it wasn't his mistake, then I think that it is reasonable to charge $75 for the baby being on his property.
I hate to say it because I know you want out of there and I do know what that's like, but you might want to stay for a while. It sucks when you hate where you board, but it is temporary and it will give you time to find the perfect place.
Hugs to you, Caryn

Hugs to you, Caryn Up here in Oregon pasture board is usually 150.00 per horse, we supply our own feed. That is what I pay for Oslo. Barb I hope you find a place CL seems to be the best place to look for boarding. Also, place an ad in the farm and garden on CL in your area, asking if anyone has a pasture in your area they would be willing to rent to you for a couple months. We did that and found a great private place that was just not using their pasture, now the horses live there all the time. It is worth a try, be sure to let people know exactly what you need in the ad. Sorry I can't help you more, I hope you find a place soon.

I'm sorry you lost your dog. Lhasas are very special dogs. I had a black Lhasa apso, too. She was the first dog I acquired as an adult. I had just turned 40, had just finished my first year teaching and I wanted a dog - landlord be damned. I went to the shelter and adopted my girl. She was black w/a white ruff and she walked with a swagger. I named her Bridget and when I got my first computer, I wanted to give myself a name that none of my students would find so that's how I became bridgetah1. I had her for over 10 years. She was about 15 when she died. I am sorry for your loss.
