That's terrible. I hope they figure out what happened to cause so many to get fatally sick so quickly. From the article, it sounds like someone purposely injected these animals with something that caused their deaths. It's horrific...

I heard just a snippet on the radio yesterday that 'they' think it was a mineral supplement mixed by a US 'pharmacy??' that had the wrong proportions...........

they don't just think, the pharmacy admitted it's mistake. a tech put the wrong amount of one ingredient in the mixture. likely the Selenium component but they haven't said yet. it was mixed by Francks in Florida. the mix was the exact ingredients of a European vitamin suppliment, not approved in the US, so it's not legal to mix it up here....

Yup, selenium. www.thehorse.com/ViewArticle.aspx?ID=14068&src=RADef someone needs their license pulled for a) compounding a formula to copy a patented drug, b) compounding said formula for one denied for use in the US last year by the FDA because it was considered "unsafe," and c) compounding the formula it wrong, thus killing horses.
