I got back from my trip Wednesday evening, very excited to see my animals. All the dogs had to get their love from momma of course, my little stinker couldn't stop licking she was so excited.
I had just crawled into bed, and of course all 3 dogs were in the bedroom, always the first night I get home. I hear my little girl whimper, and she does not whimper for any reason. I got up, turned on the light, and she was laying there, already pretty much gone. I yelled for my boyfriend, he ran in and tried to do mouth to mouth, but it was to late. She passed away about 2 hours after I got home. We are not sure what happened, it was so fast, we didn't even have a chance to take her to the vet, 2 minutes tops. We think it might have been a heartattack.
She was 10 or 11 years old, but in her mind about 6, and has been with me through so much, I rescued her from the pound 10 years ago when she had about a half day to live. She was my girl, protecting me from everything, well, she tried. She nipped my ex once when he was yelling at me and got in my face.
I'm so glad I had the 2 hours with her, got to love on her, and I'm very thankful she went fast. I miss her terribly. It just showed me how fast this can happen, we had no warning sign, and have been driving ourselves crazy since, what could we have done, anything we missed? I feel guilty for not having been there the last week, taking her for her walks she so loved, snuggling with her.
Please treasure every minute you have with your animals and loved ones!
