Have you lost a horse in the last week or so? Well, we have one in our custody and she was found in the Roy area of Pierce County. An ad will run in the Tacoma News Tribune paper as an estray horse being found. If the horse is not claimed in the allotted time, she will be hauled to the nearest livestock auction and sold to the highest bidder. She is a nice mare, being VERY well taken care of at the moment. If you say your the owner, you must show some type of ownership documents, or describe the horse. She is a mare and has some very distinct markings. Owner will also need to pay the associated fees with her impoundment.
Grass is getting greener across the fence and more and more horses and cattle are becoming lost from their owners. If you have lost or found a horse or any cattle, please contact the Department of Agriculture in Olympia and they can guide you in the right direction. Sometimes the different county or city departments don't contact each other on matters like this, so your best bet is to just make one call. We have gotten distraught owners back with their beloved pets, sometimes just in the nick of time. We can't reunite all of the animals with their owners, but we try to do our best!
Horse people talk and sometimes it's just word of mouth that goes around and then someone might have heard something or saw an ad or flyer posted somewhere. I know I had been contacted by a gal that had been called up by the local sheriffs department to catch some horses. They were taken in for safe keeping, an ad went out, no one responded and then they were supposed to be sold. There was a glitch with the newspaper ad, so the horses were held longer than they should have been. Well one day I was going to the grocery store and just happened to look on the bulletin board. Right in the middle was a big LOST ad for some horses and a mule. I contacted the person and told them to call this number. He did and just by luck the horses and mule were still in holding. He was away on vacation and the person feeding the horses didn't notice that the feed wasn't being eaten up for awhile and then was afraid to call the owner to report the horses were gone!
