I got this email and these horses need some help, they will probably clean up well. They need TLC and some rescue.
hey Ashley,
FYI if something like this could be taken on by anyone you know of.....
there is a ranch in Iowa I have been made aware of...
they breed, raise, train, sell, reining and show Paints and solid Quarter Horses...
they stand a few stallions, breed a bunch of mares every year..
with the economy, the ranch owner has decided he's not going to have "lower end" quality horses anymore..
so, he's culling..
he's got 15 horses, a myriad of ages between yearlings and 3yr olds he wants to "dump" for a next to nothing price...
he is willing to let these 15 horses go for $300 a piece, and the price INCLUDES REGISTRATION PAPERS on each horse...
if he can't dump these horses, they're going to Canada for slaughter...
he's not in a hurry to send them to slaughter, so he is feeding them....
but if nothing happens and none of any of these 15 move off his ranch by summer (if not sooner), he'll not feed them anymore and they'll go to Canada...
I also have in contact a horse hauler that will pick up as many of the 15 as wanted and deliver them all the way to the west coast for $125 per horse..he is in TX and he doesn't want these horses going to Canada either, so he's willing to haul for next to nothing...
I'm trying to find a way to get maybe a first load to Oregon or to my friends place in Temecula, CA, just to keep this ranch owner from sending any away...the ranch owner doesn't know there are some people really upset (my friend and I are 2) that he's considering slaughter, so those of us talking to him on the phone are "playing nice", so he doesn't get angry and just send them to Canada...
I'm also trying to find a way to be able to afford to buy 1 or 2, pay the hauler and find a place I can afford to keep them at myself here in OR.....
I believe the ranch owner will be sending me current photos (email) of these 15 horses hopefully by end of the week...
if these 15 are anything like the ones on their website, these horses will develop (after proper care and training of course) into some really nice riding and/or showing prospects...
and with registration papers, they could even be sold for better prices than what's being offered for them now...
I know Hytyme isn't taking on any new horses right now, but maybe a shout out could be made to all that read the website...
then, if anyone that reads it, is interested, could take one or more for themselves as projects...
the 15 haven't been worked with much, but they're not mustang wild..they have seen and handled by people since birth...
if you'd like to see the photos to assess anything, let me know..
I won't slam your mailbox with the photos if you're not at all interested or don't know of anyone interested in any of them....
the ranch's website is: www.svranch.com
thanks for reading...
