Last week I got an email (among many!) from an online friend, a forwarded post from one of HER forums... on Haflingers... a horse on a dude string, stumbled, and was set to be GIVEN to the 'horse trader'... can you say SLAUGHTER BOUND? My friend is on the East Coast, too far to try to help him, and they had a single day to find him an alternative (one of the other wranglers BEGGED to find him a home, given a day).... so I called, and he sounded GREAT... then another horse person (friend of the wrangler) brought him to safety at her house just til he could be placed... he was living in a portable pen for a night til I could get there... well... he is a DOLL... and turns out I know this other horse person here on a local horse board! what a small world! Meet Charlie, at first a possible horse for a man in my riding club, but then found he was a perfect fit for MOI... I brought him home Friday night (late, 10 pm), rode him at my house on Saturday even with his LOOOONG feet, he was PERFECT... so... took him to a gymkhana on Sunday...! here is my Charlie, doing Barrels for the first time in his life! "you want me to go TO that big striped Monster thingie???" and just chillin'... love this one, guess the horse back by that trailer there that was bucking and being schooled didn't bother him TOO much... hehe, he fell asleep!!! (mr Bob Marley would have been FREAKING out... )

I think I might be in love... he is such a chill boy... not that he's a dead head, he has some perk, a real forward walk and fast trot, he's just not at all lookie loo or spooky! he is not 'trained' at all... no speed control, direct plow rein steering... but I can work on that. He is willing and sweet and steady. now that his feet are half that long he will walk better too! LOL! he's barefoot now, (was in 4 shoes!) so might be sore a bit, but we are taking him to another show on Saturday... Maybe I can try cantering! his feet were WAY too long before to ask for that...

Oh, yes, he will come camping with me! I might bring Bob Marley too, so if anyone wants to come but has no horse.... I have a spare now! Bob Marley is a perfect trail horse... just NO gymkhana!

Is Tank going into rehab status now or was he just on trial?

He is on rehab status... and we will know more on Friday. He is limping on the right front when ridden and resistant to trot or back up when ridden, to back even when on the ground. I have the vet coming Friday to xray his leg and check his teeth, and the chiro/massage practitioner is coming next week. Depending on all of that, we will see how we proceed.
