I dont follow horse racing much except for the Triple crown races so as far as race history, bloodlines, etc, I dont know squat. BUT, I would love to see Mine that Bird win the Preakness and for that matter the Belmont. He is such a little guy, only 15 hands, but wouldnt it be great if the underdog won the Triple Crown? Especially since the wonder filly Rachel Alexandra is running tomorrow. In any event, I will be watching at home, drinking a Mikes and screaming at my TV for Mine That Bird to do it again, and praying that everyone horse & rider make it back to the barns safely. Who do you think has the best chance to win it?

Both Rachel Alexandra and Mine That Bird proved they were a class above the rest.
It's going to be a match race in the Belmont. No one else is going to be able to come close. Thrilling race! The best since Curlin and Rags to Riches in the Belmont.

And so it proved....................when I saw Mine that Bird closing at the end, my heart nearly stopped.........My Hubby put $2 on that Exacta, and it paid surprisingly well - $38- covered the other of bets we lost before that!!

I dont think anybody can say Mine That Bird's Kentucky Derby win was a fluke any longer. I dont want to take anything away from the filly she was phenominal, but, little Mine That Bird was definetly catching her. What a race! Two very classy horses, hope they come out of the race sound & healthy

Yes, methinks that 'Bird' will predominate in the Belmont which is even longer than the Derby.....But the filly will win anything shorter.......she's amazing.

Very few know the story of cagey Sonny Sims, a trainer who beat the colts in the Dixie Handicap on grass in 1979 with a technique no other trainer has ever employed in sending a filly out to test the colts. Sonny needed a race for a filly named The Very One but couldn't find one in the conditions book so he sent her out against colts.
But first, telling nobody, he drove out to his farm and found a mare in heat. He bottled her urine. Then he returned to the track. Except for the Preakness, they saddle indoors in a very small paddock here. He rubbed the content of the bottle all over the filly's backside. Veterans around this track swear that when he walked her around the narrow ring, there was a great show of emotion among the colts. Four of them went to the track visibly excited.
John Forbes, a Monmouth Park trainer who was there that day, says:
"All I know is that not a single colt even tried to pass her."
