I will be safe, its not me I worry about so much as sometimes others can pose a problem with Turtle if their horses are acting up. In any event, all of the drinking will be done after the ride as thats when Im the most sore and in need of some wine or something to take the ache away from the body. Hopefully next year will be the one that I get down to see Aj & sally.

Michelle and Turtle, I am so sad you are not coming. I knew you weren't coming this time, but I missed you last year, too. Can we start planning next year's event so I can wrangle you in to coming?
I just received an e-mail from Simrat (the balance clinician) titled "Eureka!" I think she has a fabulous clinic planned for us. I can't wait! I hope she brings her boy, Paisano, so you can see her do her thing. She is simply remarkable.

Hey there AJ! Come hell or high water I will be there next year. I promise, should have done it this year, but with Ken loosing his job at the beginning of the year and now that he is back working he doesnt get vacation this year. I cant wait for you to see Turtle & Sampson and the rest of my wacky 4 legged gang (all rescues in some way and all just slightly crazy) You wont have to twist my arm very hard. Have fun, I will be thinking about ya

Are we still in need of a 'spare' horse? If not, I am not hauling poor Bob Marley for 8 hours each way in 100 degree heat! if so, I'm game (and hope there will be some stall cleaning/feeding helpers?)
I just got an email from Jen re: another subject and asked her to confirm if she is coming! I'll try to let you know... I have pictures, I need to download tonight, PROMISE! and I'm soooooooo looking forward to this! :0)

Little white sidekick is soooo cute (uh... we inherited a small white dog along the way somehow!) He made the trip fine, and is one by one meeting our existing dog crew.

I would say the campout was a success. We all had a wonderful time and it was great fun to be able to meet everyone. AJ and Sally were great hosts and AJ...any time you want to break new trail on the horses...let me know...that was fun! I will post more when I get my pictures up. Casper, Gail and I had a long drive home. We pulled out of Tired Dog at 1:00pm and once we hit Eugene we hit a "HUGE" thunderstorm that made driving very interesting while pulling the trailer. I would say that a good discription would be that we crawled to Portland and the storm followed. Took us 5 hours to drive to the Washington state line and normally it might take us 2 or there abouts. Sue, I never did see an accident...just lots of cars and trucks crawling along. I finally got to Caspers pasture in Redmond at 11:00pm. That boy was very happy to get out of that trailer and be with his pasture friends. I finally made it to my house at midnight and by the time I got the vehicle and trailer unloaded it was 1pm....so you might say I am a bit tired at work today. I will post more as I get my pictures up.

I have to chime in that it was AGAIN a huge blast at TDR!!! I am committed to a full week next year... it just isn't long enough to stay half the week! We had lots of resting, lots of riding, lots of laughs around the firepit, talking about Bert and his tall fishing tales and directions! LOL! (you HAD to be there! ROFL!) you guys have GOT to come next time! I have pics too, but work calls first... did download the camera last night, will upload them to webshots tonight, and post.
so.... where CAN I find a job or a sugar daddy so I can move to Oregon???

Oh, BTW, when we left we took the little salamander back to his lake... Brandon asked if he could try to pull a fish since it was early morning. I said, OK, but only 10 minutes and then we have to get on the road. He got two more fish... decent sized bass.

TDR looks sooooo beautiful. Every year, I want to join in on the campout, but something always comes up. This year, it was a looming "strike" (happens every 5 years) which limited my options, but next year, I'm determined to go!!!! Darnit, I want to meet everyone in the beautiful wilderness with a whole herd of horses saved from slaughter Can't think of anything better. I'm so glad you all had so much fun. You all are an inspiration as always!

Wonderful pictures! Thanks so much for posting. You all look very happy and the horses look like they're having a good time as well! Looks like everyone got along with everyone else, too. That's one h-u-g-e great dane dog! Casper looks so good.
AmyJo. . .is that one of those bitless side-pull bridles? How do you like it?

All the horses got along very well together. We would turn them out in the upper area that AmyJo had taped off, which formed a huge pasture for them. One good thing we had going for us is all the horses were geldings. Casper loved to roll in an old burn area where there was lots of soot...take a wild guess at what soot does to a grey horse...<G> It drove me crazy trying to keep him clean.

What an amazing four days - possibly the best four/five days I have spent on this property! Thank you so much to all who attended for traveling with families and horses and sharing so much with us here. I feel blessed by each one of you. (Yes, I am working on my Camp-Out Kidnapping Plot for next year ...) Ash, Piggy Jim came up Saturday night to visit, eat, walk, eat, poop, eat, and bond with Aunt Jackie. Piggy Jim had plates made up for him every day. Everyone loved Piggy Jim, and Piggy Jim shared the love. Agilitygal, yes! That is a bitless sidepull, and I love it! My little Mustang does not deal with bits well and does fairly well in the bridle. For a horse with whom you have good communication, these bridles are the way to go. And you can use them with a bit if you want. I have photos I can send you of the different configurations as I have three. Go to: www.mossrockendurance.com and look at "Headstalls: bitless." There is a new one I do not have, but want to try. Write to Lisa if you have questions - she is amazing and can custom make anything you want. Her prices are lower than the Dr. Cook's and many others, and the product is made from biothane - tires. She has ever color in the rainbow and then some. I love them. Caryn, don't let something come up next year ... okay? We are already planning next year's event and want you there. Ladies, when you decide on a week (yes, next year the event will be scheduled over an entire week), just post it so we can start planning. Shawna, you better come next year. I wore your t-shirt (thank you, Susan and Kelly!) and you weren't here to see it. I felt sad. I cried. You need to come next year or I will cry harder. Tash, I am glad Sir Salamander found his way home and that Brandon caught two more fish! Way to go, Fisherman Brandon! Sam cannot stop talking to his friends about Brandon, you, Gail, and the Fishing Event of 2009. He promised to show Gail the well where he stores his AK-47 oozie shotguns with self-firing grenades next year. Beth, you don't need a Sugar Daddy, although that would be nice. You've got your Sugar Mamas here, and we will take care of you. Sally is trying to figure out how to get the man across the street to sell his house ... Her mom is working on it as they are friends. Swissie, you ARE coming next year. Okay? End of story ... Start figuring out what week will work for you so we can schedule early. Jackie, will you ask Gail if we should invite Bert to our bonfire next year? Also, I will clear trail with you and Casper any time. I feel like I have a riding buddy, and I am so sad you, Cas and Gail are gone. Michellep and Gypsyrn, start looking at your calendars. You really should come next year, no matter how long the drive. You won't regret it. Susan and Pete, we miss you so much. I think I psychically kept your riding crop so you would have to return for Thanksgiving. ;D Honestly, Sue, I can mail it to you or bring it to you when we come your way next. I completely forgot to bring it up after our Gray Creek Trail ride. I am so sorry. Please tell Pete I hope he rides next year. If he can't ride by then, I think you two need to seriously think about relocating. I know someone who has dwellings on their property that are vacant and pasture for horses ... Thank you so much for the incredible five days, everyone. I feel so fortunate and blessed that you are all in my life.

Aj !! Dont worry about the crop. I have never used it and probably never would have. I got it for $2.00 at a garage sale. It just looked important in my trailer My pleasure that you have it. I might of used it on my hubby to keep him in line so Im sure he is happy where it is now. Got my calendar out. I do have to be here July 10th this next year. Sons birthday. Ive missed it twice ;D ;D

I am going to go tack up Five O'Clock Charlie and see how he does since Blue Jean is now officially retired. In the meantime, decide whether cooler weather after school is out for summer (later June) or warmer weather (later July/August) works best for everyone. We are wide open so far except for a lovely Arizona woman who wants to rent the Cottage for a month. She is flexible and can work with our schedules. I cannot believe how much I miss you all. I feel like my family finally came home, and now you are gone. Come home, Lassies! Come home!
