For those of you who remember, I rescued a young mare Keeva who was abandoned at a Brentwood stable. She had an old injury that was left untreated and the same hoof was a mild club, the shoe was on at least 4 weeks too long and the other hoof was long and splayed. The original injury was not treated as it should, (she turned her out to pasture) there was superficial swelling and soreness on the front right. Despite us trying to treat it (stall rest, steroids, sweat wraps,) nothing changed so we left it alone as she was sound on it. In the past couple of weeks she has been more off, and showing pain so after our vet saw her we were then referred to Pioneer...after 2 weeks we had an appointment with pioneer for ultrasounds etc.
Simplistic bottom line, inflammation of the tendon sheath to the point of stretching the ligament to its limit with is now showing calcification's causing more inflammation now putting pressure on the tendon which now has some tiny tears. She is going under the knife and they will drain the sheath of the extra sinovial fluid (they took out about 10cc today before blocking her for pain) cut the ligament and inject steroids at the cost of almost $2000, I said no the scope to "clean up" the tendon sheath of any adhesion's at an additional $1000+. not doing anything will cause eventual bowing/tearing of the tendon and she will be permanently lame and in pain.....
I just ordered the truck load of hay ($2200)........so this is BAD TIMING to say the least.....
I have never asked before.but if anyone able to help ? I would be very appreciative, our business license is in process and I should have it back within 2 weeks, after that she files the 501(c)3 and I can give tax reciepts..or It can be sent to pioneer equine hospital....her name is Keeva
thanks for the shoulder and any help.....
