Is there still a program that helps with funding for gelding a rescue horse? I know there was at one time, but I do not have the contact info. Was just contacted tonight about a young 2 year old stud colt, gentle and halter broke, QH type, who is thin and hungry, and the owner is unable to feed him. I can get him and get him into a temp foster home, but they can only take him if I get him gelded first, which I plan on doing this week, but thought if this fund was still in existence that it would sure help me out a bit $$ wise. Once he is gelded and had some care, we will be looking for a home for him. He is a chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail, hope to get pics this week. Thanks!

I found the info for the program which may give a small portion of $$ toward a gelding procedure. Look for more info on this horse as we save him!

Awesome! Pics, please, Heidi! ;D
I usually contact Whispering Winds for funds when gelding a rescue. They're great!

Well update on this little guy... We have had to postpone his gelding due to the terrible heat ( vet was concerned as were we) and then when we just got the horse we found out that the owner is a lying piece of cr*p ( can you tell I am mad) who had said it was in ok shape. Well, its not, it is extremely emaciated, weak and lethargic, in no way ready for surgery. So now, hopefully it will make it and is on a recovery program. Not to mention they didn't even know the breed, it appears to be a darling headed young Tennesee walker type, NOT a POA or QH as she said. Found out they had kept it alive feeding it some clippings from mowing the weeds in the field! she claimed it was her "sons" horse and she wasn't responsible even though it was at her house, he was not there. and she had to keep him separate from her horses because it was a stud. OMG talk about urge to kill or at least seriously maim. He is now safe a friends, with huge shade trees in a safe fence, hope we can pull him through, so jingles please! Thanks. Pics soon I hope although sickening maybe.

Thanks you guys, he is hanging in there, perking up a bit with decent feed and lots of probiotics, etc. He has a very sweet nature even though he has not had a lot of handling and he wants to live, you can tell. We are trying to figure out how to get the pics off my friends cell phone, etc, I will go out at some point with my camera. His feet are in bad shape too, but we need to get him stronger before we work on those as he cannot take much stress right now. Keep jingling, he is listening!

God I hate people that starve animals. There is no excuse for it. People that do it need to be hung out to dry. I consider them to be low life. If they have the ability to starve animals and treat them badly.....then I would make a bet they have done bad things to people. Thank goodness you have this guy Heidi....WTG :-)
