Well, Craigslist struck again and we took in a little BLM donkey that needed a home! His owners are older and handicapped and had too many animals. They are nice people and I am glad we could help out and "Blackjack" is a real cutey! In the most amazing co- incidence when I looked at his BLM papers, he was adopted out during the same adoption 7 years ago that we got ours! He is actually listed on the same page I kept from that adoption function as ours was! I also found a picture from the newspaper that featured our burro among others being herded into a pen and this one is in the picture too! They were both yearlings at the time. We also took in a pregnant "Mama Donk" at that time too, it will be interesting to see how she is with him. He is 8 years old and very gentle and has obviously had some good handling, so that is nice. Luckily my husband is a sucker for burros/donkeys as he had some growing up, so he actually agreed with taking him in! He needs his feet trimmed, but I have the farrier coming this weekend luckily. He is good to handle his feet, ( we checked) so that is a plus. Will get some pictures asap to post!
