Apache is boarded at a private barn in Arlington, WA. I know the current owner and I am familiar with this horse.
Registered name: Heir Cal's Chief; Appaloosa Horse Club reg #510771; Foaled 7/20/92, his barn name is Apache.
Apache would make a great pasture or companion horse and can tolerate light riding. Lively under saddle, lots of impulsion & nice headset - fun for an experienced rider. He does enjoy attention, he just isn't getting any which is why we need to find him a good home.
Ground manners: Ties and cross ties OK. Won't pull back but fidgets a lot, does not like to pick up right hind foot, (this is an issue that someone with time and patience could probably correct).
Needs a firm knowledgeable handler. He'll bully a timid person if allowed. Sometimes he gets a bit aggressive if approached while loose in his stall (by a submissive). Can be very sweet when he likes his handler (dominate). Seems to have had a dysfunctional past – possible abuse and also allowed to have his way. Also seems to be more comfortable around women than men.
Some scarring on right hind leg; permanent line down left hind hoof looks like a crack but isn't - per Farrier, defect in the coronet band will cause him to always have this. Intermittent stiffness in right hip limits him to walk/trot pleasure riding. Vet diagnosed arthritis in right hip - probably result of the same accident that caused the scarring when he was a two year old. Very limited success with injections into the hip.
Current on shots, worming, trimming (except that right hind foot). Due for teeth to be floated, (last was March 06).
Very handsome - a great pasture ornament, but needs experienced horse person.
