Sassy is settling in very nicely. She and my Walker mare have already bonded across the fence from each other. I kept her in a smaller paddock initially. Yesterday afternoon I let her out into the bigger pasture, about an acre. She took off at a nice canter and made a big loop around the pasture. She was very happy to be able to move out and toss her head in the wind. It was great to see her move out and then settle down into a nice gait.

Did you see anything weird about her 'back end'? It would be great if her previous 'problems' were just temporary.

I've been trying to watch her out in the pasture running around. She is very long legged and still growing. I would say she needs more time to mature and her muscles to develop and become more coordinated. It's like what a puppy goes through at about 6 months of age. They have more legs than they know what to do with and have challenges getting them all moving in harmony at the same time.
I've not seen her with the "hitch in her get along" that might be considered the stifle issue. That may still be true but I've not seen it.
She is out of really good gaited horses. She moves exactly like another friend of mine's Walker mare. They are very "loose" which means they have a lot of swing to their movement when they are strolling (flat walk or dog walk in gaited horse terminology) down the trail. Once you ask them to collect and move into a running walk gait, they smooth out, the swing goes away and they move like a calm summer breeze.
I put my 16 hand Walker mare in with her yesterday afternoon so I could watch them together. Her name is Sassy for a reason. She wasn't about to let that 16 hand mare leave her in the dust. Sassy took off across the pasture at a dead run. I watched her turn on the after burners because my mare was pulling away from her. Nobodies leaving this little girl in the back to eat dust.
At the end of her race across the pasture I watched to see how her backend was going to handle the stop. It wasn't as graceful as my mare's but then Sassy is still maturing. I didn't see anything that gave me a reason to be concerned. Time will tell.
I did take some pictures of the girls together in the pasture. I'll try to get those added in the next couple of days.

Sounds like you have all positives with this rescue.
