I went to the Portland outdoor store on Friday, and checked out their used saddle selection. I haven't bought mine yet,but they had a slightly used Barnsby with adjustable stirrup holders for only $400 (they cost over $2k new). Lots of used english and western saddles running from as low as $20. I was really impressed. There's an older gentleman by the name of "Eric" who is really helpful and knows a lot about horses. Really good guy. Anyway, thought I'd pass along the word on this great saddle place.

Yeah. $20. It was also a Barnsby,a little beat up, needed a small repair on the leather. The Portland Outdoor store is at 304 SW 3RD Ave Portland, OR 97204-2793. Right now, they're having their 89th annual Winter sale.

The used saddles are always really cheap because they don't charge a commission to the used saddle sellers. Basically, if you take your saddle in to sell it, you get the full price that it sells for. The assumption is that the buyer will pony up (heh) for girths, or stirrups or other accessories.
I would be happy to go take a look for any particular saddle that someone may be looking for. Or, you can always call them up and ask them if they've got a specific saddle.

I am not local, I would need someone who was going to take a look around for me. I am looking for a black Tucker Plantation saddle, medium tree, 17 1/2" seat.

I say we Mane Eventers head over on Saturday! It's not that far from the show.
I am looking for an Albion 17 1/2" WIDE tree dressage saddle
and
a lady trail flex lite Fabtron western saddle
and
a Circle Y Park and Trail Flagstaff with a 15" seat in chestnut.
or any other Albion saddle there.

I saw several Circle Y Park and Trails on E-bay a few days ago. Item number 200076605002 was real nice.

I meant to go over there yesterday, and I didn't get there. I can't go today because of my farrier is coming, so I'm working from home. Hey Mane Eventers- Can someone look for Spyder's saddler while you're there?

And I ain't real picky. The Plantation would be my first choice, but I would take any black Tucker saddle they had in the $600 range or less, as long as it has a medium tree and 17 1/2" seat. Chrome hardware instead of brass would be a bonus.
