The facts are that the office was trying to get paid in full before the driver picked up. The office claimed the driver to be in Yakima looking for our place when really the driver was in Boise Idaho. That has nothing to do with weather that is a lie. And for any professional to have had this much trouble I fear for the horses. How is this possible that anybody could defend them on past merits when the here and now is whats important? It is 8 o'clock here no word no show.

I think she was just trying to say her experience were good ones.....no need to be sorry chickie!! Its good to hear that at least somewhere, and at SOMETIME, they did do their job well.
Who knows, maybe they are going downhill now.....and perhaps Barb should look into changing haulers....file a claim or whatever and make JD and his company pay for all the BOARD costs that have incurred due to their delays.
ETA: Barb paid half of the shipping and the remaining half was raised by some members here on RO and the majority of it by FOBS on ABR.

;DI am sorry to I am just having a hard time understanding this. There is a lady here from Colorado who is not a professional driver came over the same passes two days ago when JD was supposedly stuck. Between that and the lies I am fed up. We understand weather problems but we have been understanding since Jan 6th. We have had enough. At this point the back board along is over $1300. Thats not including the 7 yes 7 different nights I have sat around waiting because I was promised once again they would here. ;D ;D ;D

Dont worry, we all have those times when we are VERY frustrated with people! It is really hard to tell now, he has done good work for others in the past but right now he is not pulling through for these horses and it is adding up. Is there anyway you can get another hauler to come sooner? And get ahold of him and get the money back? Just a thought... I feel so bad for these horses

I totally understand your frustration...and Sam's and Barb's too I am sure!! It is definietly questionable with all the lies and delays........
when and IF he does ever get there, I agree with the recommendation of getting him to sign something stating he picked up the 6 horses and license plate number as well maybe?? kinda of scary to think that you may have to do that......

I really feel for all of you up there. It's a tough situation. One or two horses- yes, maybe you could get a new company quickly...but it's 5/6 isn't it? Photos-photos-photos when he DOES arrive and leave, and multiple phone contacts; is my recommendation.

Thank all of you for making me feel better. There is nothing more that can be done at this point but let it play out the way it will. Sometimes it helps to vent so thank you all again, my hope is to save others this trouble.

I would agree with pio - take photos of each horse being loaded and the license plates of both the truck and trailer!

is it possible that the driver is possibly in a 2 wheel drive truck instead of 4 wheel drive? I thought they had some engine problems along the way, maybe they changed trucks...if you don't have 4 wheel drive your not going to be able to get thru alot of the passes....I dunno, but I hope all of the drama ends soon on all ends.

Well if he can't make it without horses loaded WHY would you want to send those horses on that trip back?? What will happen to the horses if he breaks down again and does he still have no money?? Freezing cold...stuck in the trailer...maybe abandoned?? Bad feeling here! The adopter is VaBarb right?

Jeff, if you have to sit around another night waiting for the hauler, you need to invite female company and a six pack to spend the time too.......
and Mo- what great news...we're anxiously waiting for those pics. Woohoo!

If you go to Uship.com you can get several bids and pay a small percentage of the shipping fee you agree on upfront then the balance on delivery. Had great results and they ship ANYTHING!

Just wanted to let everyone know still no word from the haulers. I have to say that I think rescuing cross country is not the greatest idea, one the money used for transport could be used to save horses locally, two the stress on the horses, three adopters backing out and I am left holding the bag, four board not paid, five health risk for the horses, six.......................... I have no problem absorbing the cost of a few CBER horses but right now I am supporting adopters horses; Roper, Parrot, Lennox, George, Fanny, Frankie and CBER horses - Jack, Taurus, Kanye, Emily and I was supporting Opal. It is just too much for one person to support, I am single and do not make this kind of money to support these horses. Keep your fingers crossed that they leave soon! Thanks, Sam

I am wondering what excuse people give when they back out of their adoptions. Do they simply change their mind after they have thought about it for awhile. Do they find that the horse is not a good fit for them, or what. It seems like such a shame for the horses to be left in limbo when this happens.
I also thought that Taurus had a potential adopter. I had asked Wendy about him and she said she was working on something for him. Couldn't you make these horses available on a gift contract after they have gone through their QT money, if no one has come forward to adopt them? That way they would not be there indefinatly with no prospects in sight. Of course, they should still be approved adopters.

Are you going to use a new hauler? The hauler I used for Cloud, Thunder Horse Transport, was a great hauler -- great price, very organized, very clean and great with horses -- and absolutely reliable and punctual. The owner, a lifelong horseman, does the hauling along with another man.
I fired the first hauler because they did exactly what the hauler is doing to you now -- three weeks later (and three extra weeks board later) they still weren't picking up, and were lying to me and giving me the run-around daily.

I doubt that Barb has the funds now to transport these horses. She had a very inexpensive rate to begin with and has spend part of it up front. This was all money raised on the boards. It would be helpful if she would come on the board and let us know what is going on from her perspective!

Maybe the horses could be adopted out locally and the money received used to pay Barb back for the expenses? Just brainstorming here.

When do the horses that are not picked up become CBER property again to be adopted out? ?? IF there is back board due, then maybe the adopter would sign the horses over to CBER and they could be adopted out from here. Something is not right with this shipper and I, for one, would not let the horses get on any trailer for transport with this company. I doubt the horses would make it to their destination. As much as Sam wants them gone, it might be in everyone's best interest to not allow them to leave with this hauler. Do we need to begin a fund-raising to help with care expenses?

Do we know where Barb stands in all this -- what her wishes are regarding the horses? I'm confused.

Earlier today, I went to the AB board to look around for a thread about this. I found nothing current except the old fundraising thread. I was thinking that maybe the adoptor would be updating the ABers since they raised some of these funds for shipping? I could not find anything.
I agree with Beth, this is a rather strange deal.

Not sure how far these horses are going but to get Noah and Nala from CO to FL its going to cost $2425. So the price the adopter got is super low.

I feel bad for both Barb and Sam. What a headache when all you are trying to do is save horses. Barb must be frantic over this whole situation and it is stressing Sam out too.
