Okay all, just spoke with Barb.
Heres the update:
last week the haulers were stuck going to Washington via Oregon from Boise. The interstate was closed for nearly two days because of a blizzard and numerous overturned tractor trailers. (BTW, this was confirmed with DOT & the State Police). This was the same storm that closed down the Amtrak train for two days...
On the trailer already were four horses heading to the East Coast -- each already VERY late and suffering from having been on the rig for far longer than anyone would like. In consultation with the Oregon DOT, the State Police & the horses' owners, We Haul Horses made the decision to head on to the East Coast rather than risk the safety of the horses already on board (and their own safety given the weather)... BTW: running a 1/2 empty load to the East Coast, plus the four days immobile in the NW, have cost them nearly $10K....
We Haul Horses even tried hiring a Yakima hauler to bring them down to Oregon, but none felt it was safe enough to travel...
So, now after they drop off the four horses, they are turning around immediately and heading back to Washington. With stops, they should be there in seven days, no later. At the same time, they are trying to find a local hauler to move the horses closer, to speed up the trip.
Ok, so I highly feel that this is NOT A SCAM. Please understand that the weather has not been cooperative this year...as EVERYONE across the country can attest too!!!
Thanks everyone, keep fingers crossed that maybe Mr.weather will hold off and let these horses get home!
(BTW: EMILY HAS BEEN ADOPTED.)
