Ok, on the thread that says Truck news...FLO will be weighing and tagging the horses tomorrow morning. Truck is supposed to leave at 9 am. We CAN'T count on bad weather to delay the truck. WE HAVE ONLY TONIGHT TO save the remaining horses...there are 12 LEFT- 2 babies, goldie oldies, well trained, not so trained, all lovely and scared... Sam has requested that if we can collect enough money to save only ONE MORE HORSE, PLEASE WORK TO SAVE JEREMIAH...he's trained and has numerous years of life left. Please find it in your hearts to help them. Status: Available Price: 500 Arrived: 1/3/2007 Age: 18-20 years Height: 14.3hh Weight: Gender: Mare Primary Color: Gray Secondary Color: White Type: Riding Breed: Arabian Cross Registration: Condition: Temperament: Training: 18-20 year old 14.3h Arab cross mare. Tickles is gentle and easy to catch. She is great about her ears being touched and has a good disposition. Her feet are in pretty good condition. Tickles might have a small melanoma under her jaw and on her neck. She was responsive to rein light pressure and listened to cues the rider was giving. This horse would be a good confidence builder! When we removed her halter, she opened her mouth like she was used to a bit being in there. Please contact Megan VanHollebeke for more information. Adopter: Bail Amount: $500.00 Bail Pledged: $20.00 sunlightslady $20.00 sunlightslady again $20.00 bridgetah Total Bail Pledged: $60.00
Total Bail Still Needed: $440.00

How do I do this - just go to PayPal? Please advise.
I just sent it. I also contacted her PS (Megan).
Hope it's not too late.

cybercat, do we want to send money in on horses to cberpal or wait till we have bail raised? If it goes to CBER and the total not raised or someone adopts outright will they end up using it else where. Thanks

I think it's a good idea.....however then you'd have to have people acting as bankers again, and the bankers usually got stiffed and ended up paying more themselves than planned. If it's done this way, there should still be the option to send directly to CBER as well. A - because it's tax deductible, and B - either way it goes to help a horse. Having the option is a good idea. For me, I've never asked for a refund when a horse shipped anyway....I just let them put it where it was needed most.
The same procedure is still in place at this time...if donations are sent into the CBER Store or cberpal...for a particular horse, and that horse is either shipped or adopted outright...the money reverts to the CBER General Fund to pay for necessities of running the rescue...paying for meds, feed, farriers, office supplies, electricity, insurance, tack, etc....even body removal if the horse dies.
After this truck I think we need to revisit the possibility of starting another account where we can deposit our donations for a horse and then send the donation in all at once...for those members who would rather have their donations used only for pulling feedlot horses...We kind of talk about doing that, but no one really has wanted the responsibility of monitoring the money and the account...(IMO..)

Hi Leah! Welcome to the group...The Angel Fund is generally used to provide short term loans to adopters who can't quite afford all the costs of getting a horse off the feedlot...for the Angel Fund, an approved adopter requests a loan from the Fund BOD and they decide whether to offer the money or not. Then the adopter uses that money to finish the bail or whatever is needed. The adopter has to pay the Fund back in a timely manner...so that money can be used again to help another horse in trouble. We have been asking for additional donations to increase the balance of the Fund...I do not know if its being used tomorrow or not. What we can do is send a PM to jenm...she is running the Angel Fund. Let's both send her notes and ask her to forward your pledge to the CBER Store or their PayPal if the Angel Fund is not being utilized tomorrow...how does that sound to you? Jenm is trusted implicitly in our group... if she can move the money for you, she will...
and I am Leanne...cybercat on the board....
Leah- message sent to jenm..at 11:15 pm.

Leah ~ We just refunded your donation to the Angel Fund this morning, so that you can re-direct your funds to CBER, via the CBER Store donation page.
(P.S. jenm is out of town, and I'm the back-up for the Angel Fund) ~ Nanci K
