We had to make the very sad decision to have Amy laid to rest last week. She left us quickly in mind and body. David understood and though he did not want his friend to suffer, she is so very missed by him and us. She started loosing weight fast and then started having problems concentrating. It was so sad seeing her get lost in a corner of the pasture and seeing the empty and tired look in her eyes. Our Vet guessed at her age to be over thirty years old and that her heart was just getting tired. She was very loved and spoiled and will be missed. We have lost a part of our family. Amy, we miss you!

It's always hard to say goodbye. Amy, for me, was the perfect example of what rescue is all about. She touched my heart and soul. I have Amy and your son's picture (at the top of this thread) in my rescue folder that I carry with me all the time to show others what rescue is all about. So happy that she knew she was loved and had a valuable job at the end of her life. I think she was something special!

Beautiful Amy....she was kind of the poster girl for horse slaughter in my mind...
I am so happy that you shared your home and love with her. She was a truly special animal and we all are richer for knowing and caring about her. Please hug your son for me....

Heartbreaking to hear of your loss. Amy was a very lucky lady (I think you were there with us when Sam took Amy off the lot . With a big sigh of relief, Jim snapped pics of Amy and Sam leaving! She was safe!) Then, to hear you guys adopted her, and she had a real home of her own was the best news ever! She could not have found a better home, and with a little person to call her own too. Thank you for what you did for this dignified lady...... giving her what she deserved up to the very end. RIP AMY.
