I had to put my beautyful boy Gem Dandy to rest. I didn't know where else to put this, so I hope it's okay to put his pictures up again. Gem was my first slaughter rescue (not CBER) and has taught me so much. He has helped me through a lot in the short 3.5 years he's been with me. Arrow came to us 1.5 weeks before we lost Gem, and they became fast friends. I feel sometimes that Gem made sure I was okay before he went, and with Arrow joining us, he felt comfortable to leave us/me and to leave his pain. We miss him terribly. here is a picture of Gem at the feedlot (how could I not save this face) and here he is happy and spoiled

Swiss, I remember when you lost Gem. It was right around the time that my first (and only, so far) CBER horse came to CA. It's hard, isn't it? I miss my old TB mare so much, and she has been gone 2 years now. Remembering Gem and all the love he had for his momma..... Katie

I remember it well too, it was only a few days after I lost my beloved Tate.

I'm sorry about your loss. It hurts so bad, there are no words to describe the pain when we loose our horses.
He was a very handsome guy, I'm sure he was so greatful for you. Thank you for showing him the love he deserved!

Wow, he was definately a Gem! I am so sorry, you must miss him terribly. He obviously had a great life with you as I can see from the pictures. It looks like two different horses. How amazing.
