I came home today to find out that Little Miss Rosie laid down under her favorite tree and couldn't get up. She had been thrashing around and her eyes were glazed over....My FIL and husband decided she was suffering, she couldn't get up....so they put her out of her misery. It was instant....My husband buried her under a huge Maple tree, she loved to lay under trees so he figured that would be a perfect place for her....Bless her little heart, she had been doing so great the last few weeks...she hadn't picked up weight wise, but was moving around really well and getting into mischief. She is out of pain now, and able to run with the big herd in the sky...something she hadn't been able to do for who knows how long....She will be greatly missed, she was such a character!!! For those of you who do not know Rosie, she was brought in last spring with 3 other rescues. She was severely emaciated, covered in ticks and lice and had a horrible case of white line/founder issues. She also had a broken pelvis and a leg out of socket.... This is Rosie after she had put on a bunch of weight, she never got any fatter than this...she had to be on daily bute etc. for pain....

I am so sorry. I know how you fought to keep this kid going. it is so hard sometimes to do everything you can and still watch them suffer. You were wonderful to give her a great home and love her.

Chelma, you did the right thing by this sweet girl for longer than anyone else found it in their hearts to do. You were her person. Someone above said "you're the one she'll be waiting for" and I think that is so true. You got her late in her life, but those others just let her go wherever she might end up. You took care of her and gave her the very best an equine could want. You were/are her hero.
Take care and I'm sorry she didn't stay longer.

Chel: Because of you she had a year and 4 months where she was happy and loved, she had food and friends. For the first time, in probably a very long time, she knew what is was like to be loved and to love. She was a very tough old broad that softened up in your care. We will all miss her VERY much, thank you for all you did for her, you are AWESOME!

Chelma, I am so sorry for your loss and so grateful for the love, compassion, and constant care you gave Her Greatness. Please tell Don how grateful I am that he didn't let Rosie suffer any longer while you were gone and that she will forever rest in her favorite spot. You have personified the opitome of rescue, Chelma. God bless you and Rosie Rae. Amoise PS: Please give Kaycee an extra hug from Aunt Amy tonight. I am sure this will be difficult for her, too.
