I hate to ask anyone but trying to get a couple horses out of a bad situation. I dont know if anyone remembers "Grandpa" that Newstart4horses had? Well we got Grandpa moved to Blind Acres and he is doing very well, for a horse that couldn't hardly walk to a horse thats full of himself its just amazing. There are two more horses and the same place that Grandpa was at that need to get out of there. I got a call from the girl that rescued him last week to go by and check on him, she was unable to come down do to financial problems. I went by and couldn't believe what I saw. He has dropped at least 75 bs since I first saw him a month ago, he cant hardly stand due to his feet being so long and also arthritic. He had gone without feed for approx 11 days, they were feeding him hay that he couldn't eat, he is so weak that he can barely stand. Blind acres will come and get him but needs help with gas, feed, and shavings until she gets paid next month. These two horses need to get out of there ASAP can anyone help?

If they haven't fed the horse for 11 days why isn't Animal Control called to intervene and get the out? What are they charging for the horses?
I am glad you are able to monitor the situation and help!

There is no link to Blind Acres but if you go on the Ab board and look up Rhapsody you can see where he is and see the difference in the two weeks he's been there.

Working on my barn all day so I can get my horses back in. Connie is coming tomorrow to pick up the old man and the mare. I guess last night he went out of his stall and fell in the mud and was there all night, when Dave went out to feed this morning his was laying there and his tongue was blue, he thought he was dying. He got him up with some ropes and put him back in his stall, I went up there and checked on him and he seemed to be ok, fed, watered and cleaned his stall. He was eating well and drinking. Cant wait till he is out of there. Please everyone say a prayer for him tonight that he will be able to get in the trailer and survive the ride to Connie's. Modified - Dave told me animal control had left a tag on his door stating there were 4 loose horses but nothing stated about the other horses. If they came after Dave got the horse up and back in his stall they would of saw a clean stall, food and water. The horses arent costing anything there being given to Connie. If the horse can't get into the trailer safely then we need to call animal control to have the horse uthanized and they will bill the owner for all costs. Connie is trying to help these horses because there is nobody else that can. She just needs some help with feed until she gets paid. If anyone can help PLEASE see the information below.
Here is Connie's feed store information: River Valley Feed - Manager Angel or Kevin -916 991-0077. If whoever is donating for these horses if you could just purchace food, shavings that would be wonderful ( Rye hay or Oat and alfalfa meal). Thanks to everyone. If anyone needs to get a hold of me please call my cell phone @ 707 718-5638 I will update you all tomorrow. Thanks again, Brenda

Hey Beth,
I've met Connie one time when she was picking up Grandpa, and I believe she was a member of the board but cant remember her name? All I know is that she has done an amazing job with Grandpa (Rhapsody on the AB board) and if she can do something to get these horses out of the situation there in then I will do anything to help.

Hey Brenda,
If that gelding is that far gone, I'd put him on the UC Davis re-feeding plan, which for him would basically be soaked alfalfa pellets. Make sure Connie doesn't give him any senior, grain, etc.
I'll call the feedstore tomorrow and make my donation. Will the managers know who Connie is?
Please keep us updated. I am so worried about these guys now.

I am confused - is Connie part of Blind Acres? Are these two horses going to Blind Acres? If this is Blazinsaddles, she was in financial straits, and I believe lost the property she was renting........so where would she put these horses? What has changed for her that she 'can' care for these horses? She was not able to care for Morph...........if this is the same person.
I would hate for these horses to go from a bad situation to a worse situation. I am not trying to stop anyone from donating, just need some clarification...........

So whatever happened to Morph? Is he ok? I talk to Connie this morning but didn't say anything about this. I asked if she was going to be able to take care of these horses finacially and she said yes. She has done a great job with Rhapsody so I hope I'm doing the right thing? I dont know what else to do.

For all of you worried about Morph, SAFE took him on and he is now in a wonderful home and looks much much fatter and is doing very well.

Actually, it wasn't SAFE that took him, it was Lornsadoon from this board... she found him a nice home and you can read about it here... SAFE does have a thread on him in their "other horses" section, much like the RO board has threads about horses from all over the place. rescuesonly.proboards59.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1179090010&page=2However, there are a lot of nice horses that have been saved by SAFE and are available for adoption I think, if anyone was wanting to take a look at them...

OK, so I am a little confused here...
Is Connie part of Blind Acres? Is she just transporting these horses for someone, or is she going to be taking them herself?

Hello everyone:
I have been on the phone with Chocolatemoose (Brenda) this morning. Per our discussion, Blazinsaddles did NOT take the gelding today.
The gelding is in very bad condition and has deteriorated since last night. He is not able to walk and is shaking, with increased respiration rate. Chocolatemoose feels that he is suffering.
Chocolatemoose is meeting her vet right now and is having the gelding euthanized. I told her we the RO board would support her in helping with the cost of euthanasia, estimated at $200. Chocolatemoose will post the actual amount today.
I am contributing $50. Please post here if you can send a small check to help out with euthanasia cost, even $5 will help. I will tally our efforts and PM you with Chocolatemoose's mailing address later today.
The property owner or the "rescuer" of this horse will be dealing with body disposal.
Thank you everyone for your help. Chocolatemoose deserves a big pat on the back for getting involved with this, and also bucking her horse-expenses-shy husband in order to pay for the euthanasia cost out of pocket this morning. Let's help her as best we can.
Please feel free to call me at home with questions. 707-544-7584.
Katie
